  1. Okay heres what the dealer found with my car. Vacuum pump bad as well as as the main vacuum line that goes off the pump. there was various splits in the vacuum hose due to age. $1100 dollar repair. Its as good as new or I should say better than new..That vacuum line has a sensor on it and also was time consuming to change..The brake pedal has much better feel than before, not as hard.
  2. Yes I know the code is a7w but in the paint chip chart for that year for porsche there is two different codes showing for kristelsilber. I need to physically look at the code and I dont know where it is located. My paint shop wont proceed until I verify the code. Any sugestions?? Thanks...Im trying to get my wheels repainted and the truck is in my garage..
  3. Hello everyone. Ive looked everywhere for the paint codes on my car. Any help would be awesome!! My color is kristalsilber, but the bodyshop said they found two codes for that color. Thanks in advance
  4. Well to start off with , 1 quart of oil every 600 miles is far from normal. My father has been in the service station business all his life and I might add I have been in it all my life. Never have I come across a car that uses this much oil. Yes I did change the weight but I have owned many amg mercedes and never once have I ever had one that burned one drop of oil. My whole point is the weight of the oil, why did it make such a drastic reduction in oil use. Im going to stick with it. The truck has never run better, you guys can be negative thats fine. Thats what the forum is all about :) :) :)
  5. Yes your probably right . im gonna take it in this week. ll let you know what they find :)
  6. When I was using the 0-40, I had a lot of oil coming into the intake from the drivers side turbo. Also when I would come to a stop, the engine would stumble because of the oil getting on the sensor. The dealer told me that was normal and I should drive hard from time to time and it would get sucked up into the engine and blow out the exhaust thus not building up in the line. Since the change in oil the consumption went to zero. If you dont beleive it try it for yourself. I only went to the heavier oil because the summer is so hot in the south.
  7. Hello to all.. I have something I wish to share with you that may be of some interest. With close to 65000 on the odometer I have been adding 1 quart of oil every 900-1000 miles like clockwork , so far so good.. The last time I changed my oil I switched from mobil 1( 0-w40) to castrol ful synthetic (5-w50), again so far so good.. Now it has been almost 5000 miles since the oil change and not one ounce of oil has left the engine!!I am curious as to why this would happen? I know that most of the oil lost is lost through the turbos and sucked up into the intake and exits through the exhaust, but why would changing the weight so slightly make such a dramatic difference? Any thoughts would be welcomed.. <_<
  8. Hello, got the same message on mine awhile back while driving. Dont continue to drive or youll be calling for a tow as the battery slowly drains down until the engine finally gives out. Mine was the alternator not the battery. Good luck
  9. Yes it is one of the worst parts to replace.. I had it done a few months back and besides it costing close to 3 grand (the water pump alone was over $1000.) They have to take so many parts off that ive been back three times because they didnt put it back together right!! On top of that about a month later I saw some performance shop on ebay was selling a brand new waterpump from a turbo for $150.00 !! Go figure..
  10. Hello, the brake seems the same whether the light is on or off. Actually my light is coming on now immediately after starting and staying on where as before it was on then off for a few days. Where is the booster and how hard is it to change? I have had the brakes, rotors upgraded to 8 piston front and 4 piston rears maybe two years ago and its been great up till now
  11. Hello again. Driving in a very heavy rain storm in so. florida and passenger wiper stopped working all together. Drivers still works fine. Im on vacation here and any help would be greatly needed!! Wiper will move if you move it otherwise nothing..
  12. I was driving home today and got a faulty brake booster light on the dash. Brake pedal seemed to go lower than normal. Im almost afraid to ask how involved this is..
  13. Yes lately its been outside. When I took out the cabin filter to replace I did notice some pine needles etc. in the bottom of the filter tray, so I see debris entering inside the unit which I guess eventually got stuck in the drain line. But I will say I really had to blow hard in the drainline to clear it out, it was realy plugged up. Now I hope my carpet dries out on the drivers side as it is completely soaked with water..
  14. Thanks RFM. What is involved with cleaning those oil lines in the turbos? Also if you dont mind, what is the lifespan of a turbo on a cayenne? Just wondering when they need to be rebuilt. Mine just turned 60k
  15. Thanks guys, it was a blocked a/c drain. It threw me off that the passanger side carpet was dry.. I pulled the drain off the a/c and the unit was filled with water Blew through the drain line to free it up and now all is fine.. Thanks again!!
  16. I know mudman I cant figure it out. It only leaks with ac on. It leaks right on the gas pedal and the water is very cold. Now that it is hot it leaks steady. Is their any ac equipment maybe in the center above the radio?? The carpet is so wet it leaks out the door..
  17. I know the drain for the condenser is on the passanger side so why am I getting soaked with cold water on the drivers side?? Passenger side carpet is dry and drivers side carpet is completely filled with water. What should I do?? A simple fix or does she need a trip to porsche.. Thanks in advance..
  18. No I dont drive hard at all. It doesnt seem to be dependent on how I drive it . I am more concerned about the oil in the intake line on the drivers side. I guess I will have to make an appointment and have her checked out. When the drivers side is lined with oil and the passanger side is bone dry there has got to be some issue there with one side or the other.
  19. I have a 05 ctt and am wondering how much is too much when it comes to adding oil? I have to add a quart every 700 or so miles, and im wondering if that is abnormal. The other day I was driving it a little hard and when I let off the gas I saw some white smoke in the rear view. Is that normal?? Also on the drivers side from the turbo all the way up to the the intake the inside of the boost hose is lined with oil but the passenger side is complety dry. Do the turbos need to be replaced after a period of time , the truck has 60k on the odometer.
  20. It was a genuine part, slightly modified from what they told me. They changed something with the water cooling on the alternator. Needed to change the fittings out. Thanks for the advice :) Also just found out my warranty will pay $1500 of the repair so im happy about that!!
  21. Well, got the car back last week and my wallet is much thinner now! $3000.00 to be exact.. But I want to say something that might help a lot of people out there with little electrical problems. I had some minor gliches with various electrical components on the truck such as: When playing a cd, cd would skip all the time. When turning up volume, volume would get lower before going higher. Got air suspension warning light on dash maybe about once a week, usually when raining. Headlights very dim, tailights too. Gas mileage went from a solid 17 ave. to now at 13, which is more in line with what it is suppose to get. Much more power from the engine, and much smoother too. When I raise and lower the suspension, it is much faster than before. I have had these symptoms for close to two years and now everything is perfectly fine. Could it be the alternator was putting out thw wrong voltage all this time and screwing up my electronics?? Dont know but was amazed to see all those problems go away. Also my wipers when in rain sensing mode would never work right, always too slow to clean the windsheild. Now they work perfect.. Well maybe this will help someone else who has had similar problems to mine as these alternators rarely are replaced..
  22. I dont understand why u dont recomend and you wont comment??This truck has been a daily driver for the past 40k with these mods in addition to 8 piston brembos with 15 inch two piece rotors, four piston in the rear, techart 22 formula rims and various body panels. This truck up till now has been 100 percent reliable and still posting 17 miles per gallon. The truck runs better than my sl600 twin turbo ever thought of.. The truck is living proof that the mods are not bad.. Why the sour post? Just wondering
  23. Well thanks for the input guys but it seems to me if you guys have never seen one go bad and they havent either, they should do more than hook up a 25 dollar volt meter and in 30 seconds tell me my alternator is bad. There must be a couple other things to look at in addition to the cable you mentioned that they didnt even look at either! Not to mention they allready replaced my battery which I have allready had replaced once since the car was new. Also when it was in for the first repair I had them fix the famous rear glass switch which they charged me $120 for! ! Have a feeling that it isnt the alternator and then what?? Have to wait and see I guess. Okay heres another strange question for you guys.. On top of the intake, when I had all the mods done they installed two blow off valves with heavy duty adjustable springs. The guys at the dealership had a real laugh session over this as they asked if I knew I had a Porsche and not a Toyota!! Anyway I never paid it any mind but just curious to know if you had ever come across this mod and if so or if not what purpose would it serve. Also what would be the result if the valves were adjusted one way or the other?? Ill tell you the mods to the engine included: changing out intercoolers, exhaust manifolds, complete exhaust, stock intakes with k&n filters, chip, and the blow off valves..Thanks again in advance, it is nice to have such knowlegable people to get advice from!!
  24. Well I searched through the whole site and could find very little on alternators so here it goes. Driving home last week and got a Electrical load switch off sign on the dash. Ten minutes later various things starting shuting down until eventually the truck did too. Had it towed to porsche to get it looked at, called the next day and they told me that it was just the battery. Okay they put in the new battery at a cost of $300.00 and told me it was ready. Picked it up and didnt even get out of the parking lot when the same light came on again. Went back and showed them the light and they hooked it up to see what the alternator was putting out. It was only putting out 11.7 volts with engine idling with everything turned off. Now they said it was the alternator. Okay its been in the shop for the last few days and the price they are quoting me is $2200. parts and labor. That seems very high even though they tell me they have to retrofit the new alternator (water lines) because they have changed the design somewhat. They also say they have never seen one go bad, They are blaming it on the fact that the truck has had over $30 k in techart mods and is putting out in their estimate around 620 hp. It has been running fine for the past 2 years since having the work done. What I would like to know is has anyone had similar problem and does the price seem out of line. My truck has 60k on odometer Thanks in advance
