OK, I replaced the Airbag Sensor 996.618.219.01 and same problem. What's next?

Sorry, but if the code won't clear then you still have a problem and it may be in the wiring. Any sign of rodent damage?

I didn't see anything. I will have to look further. That might explain why the car sitting at the mechanic and then this. That harness runs from that module to the ECU I think?

OK new question. If I pickup a used airbag sensor (996.618.217.01 - same part # as what is in my car), do I just swap it out and all is good, or is there anything else? I read some post that the dealer will need to code it...

Try getting someone with a PST2 to reset the codes - the Durametric tool is handy, but no replacement for the real deal...

Will resetting the fault ensure the module is working? I don't want to be in a situation where the airbags don't work...

Note: Fault codes 100 and higher are internal control module faults. The stored faults cannot be erased.

You need a new airbag controller.

If this is a US/Canada 2002 996TT then you need:

99.661.821.902 Switch Unit -- US MSRP $637.59 -- try Sunset Imports (Porsche parts at Dealer Cost) for better pricing.

This control unit controls the driver, passenger and side airbags for that year.

So if the module mysteriously went bad while setting, what module is it? Part number would be handy - looked through the catalog and nothing...
