  1. I am just not seeing it. The wire connection is near the back (engine side), loops under the tranny and goes toward the front (front of car side) then it feeds towards the top of the tranny on the side where all the tranny coolent lines are located????? The picture would indicate near the rear on the side opposite all the coolent lines definately not the case. There are a series of clips that run along the tranny pan that the wire clips into that the wire goes under the rear of the tranny along the pan and then to the front along the pan. what the heck am I missing??? Is it different on a C4 than a C2?

  2. Lot of interesting conversation. I bought a few months back a 2002 c4 cab with tiptronic 52,000 miles. No oil drips anywhere but all this conversation does make one nervous. I bought a 3 year 36,000 warrenty from the dealer for piece of mind. Got such a good price on the car figured the 3 grand for a warrenty was worth it. I have a local mechanic who is crazy talented and doesn't charge premium rates just because the car is from germany. I am going to maintain the heck out of it, drive it every sunny day and not worry.

  3. 2002 c4 tiptronic

My back up lights aren't working and the mirror doesn't adjust down when I shift into reverse. In reviewing posts for manual tranny cars this seems to indicate the back up swith isn't functioning. The guys at Sunset said there is only one switch on the tiptronic and it controls back up and neutral safety function (probably other things to). This is an expensive part and I want to make sure I don't chase parts. Bulbs are good so that doesn't seem to be the problem just no juice when I shift into reverse to the lights. Fuse also controls other items that function fine so fuse isn't issue. Other thoughts on what to try?

  4. The trim that holds the trunk engine hood release is a mess on my car (2002 C4 Cab). Has anyone painted these? If so any suggestions on the right color black that matches the Porsche interior? Someone must have had this part off at one time as the screws are missing, a idea of the right size? I even thought about wrapping that part in a black leather to match the interior better. anyone try this?

  5. Just bought a 2002 996 C4. Dealer threw in an oil change but I have a slow leak from oil plug. I thought Porsches required an O Ring. I am 2 hours from the dealer so taking back a pain. Can anyone tell me what type of material and size the o ring is, the local O'Reilly's doesn't have a part number but they do have a large selection of orings. I figured I would pull the plug and drain the oil, replace the Oring and put everything back together. I live in a small town in southern illinois so most people think I am driving a space ship and no ones stocks parts.

  6. Just bought my first Porsche! A 2002 911 C4 Cabriolet Silver with Black interior and hard top. I am so pumped.

Where are some good parts suppliers to internet shop for parts and upgrades? Want to put on a cold air kit and headers.

Any other suggestions on "tweaks", I have strong mechanical skills so can handle a fair amount of stuff.

Anyone know of a good hard top lift/storage system for storing the hardtop from the ceiling of the garage?

    Life long dream fulfilled.
