  1. I took some video today, I almost burn my transmission... I can still smell it. You will need Quicktime 7 with MP4 support. Let me know what you think of sound.. it's much heavier sound than old stock exhaust. Not too loud after 1000miles I put on it. http://contact.nortonelectric.com/images/F...eed_Boxster.mp4
  2. any comments on the rubber pads? How long have you had them installed? I had mine since January this year and rubber feels excellent. specially when I get in my car after rain.. it never sliped my shoes not once. I paid more than what's posted on ebay now.. I think I paid mine for around $250 when it came out.
  3. I bought mine from same guy on eBay, 5th-gear and I compared with Ruf, and TechArt. Quality are almost same and I give BIG thumbs up to 5th-gear guys.
  4. I waited over year doing research and more research. mean time, I was having fun with my brother's 350Z for 6 month or so.. If you can wait for next few more month or so I am sure price will come down more. 997 C2 or C4 are out there, many of them are still new and until 997 turbo and GT3 come out this summer you wouldn't see any big depreciation prices on any 996 much as you want. check with eBay motor for up to date prices in country and check with your local prices too. Keep your eyes and ears open.. who knows, some of 996 owners are waiting for trade their 996 with new 997 turbo or GT3. :)
  5. I've pushed mine to 135mph near Vegas last year.. had to slow down.. Hwy Patrol was near by.. :) No vibration, just smooth sail.
  6. Thanks for the reply, I thought as I had posted in the 986 Boxster section that I was part of the way there with you knowing what car I have??? For the record is it a '98 Boxster, RHD as I am in the UK. I read on another forum, and there is a picture with an air tunnel, and it shows that these flaps do make a difference to the air flow around the wheels, why put them there otherwise? Mine has been recently aligned and is spot on. Got my bits this morning and will be crawling around underneath the car later! Thanks for the reply I think Liz is refering middle/back flap where rear wheel shaft is. Here are some photos I took from last week.
  7. Wow, I just got back from NRAuto store... bought bazel rings. Gauage cluster is next.. :D
  8. Is that a touch screen? I am just curious.
  9. That is SWEET!!!! I'll be taking the LCD out of the case and mounting it in the space then placing the DVD slot-loading drive beneith that. Where oh where did you get that awsome skin for MediaCenter???? Thanks, Todd Can't wait to see your work. Wish you very best.
  10. You can buy most thimgs at www.ebay.com. Read the ads carefully, and make sure you check the seller's feedback. Eli eBay may sounds good, but why don't you take great deal from Sunset Imports Porsche which offers great deal! Dealer cost... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...ent&code=sunset call Jeff.
  11. This is what could happen to VW, Audi, and Porsche near future. VW's R&D department is working on new human interface call "Gypsy" and it's **** good. Here is link from C|Net.com News. http://news.com.com/1606-2_3-6052333.html May be on new 998 and 988 near future? Cross finger... :D
  12. I am also dremmeling new speaker mount kit this week, my fabrication tips.. just heavy duty tape surrounding area you need to protect... also use sheet metal to protect area you don't want to to be touch by accident... some times dremel can go high speed and slip out from my hand... oops. sheet metal really helps for protection. Goodluck! and be brave...
  13. Windows PC sounds good, but too complicate. Instead, I replace mine with Pioneer AVIC-N3 GPS Navigation with XM radio, XM traffic-Nav, & iPod module. I get real time XM traffic information like "there is traffic 3 miles a head" with real time traffic display on 6.5 LCD. also it gives me option to avoid and ask me for re-route to other alternative. pretty cool. How did you connect to the C1 plug? I've read several posts, but the only option I've found is to splice into the wires. Did you find a compatible C1 plug? Todd
  14. Have you ever consider using EVO's MAF? http://www.evoms.com/p%20boxster%20induction%20tuning.htm
  15. Part number ? If you know, I really appreciate... Waiting to call jeff once I know what the part number is. :( 996 505 525 00 Left 996 505 526 00 Right ...good luck Well.. turns out it wasn't the brake air duct. it's right next to it... Toolpants !! HELP!
  16. Part number ? If you know, I really appreciate... Waiting to call jeff once I know what the part number is. :(
  17. I notice this part under the bumper, something was broke off. But can't tell what it is. I looked at PET CD and nothing come close to what it looks like cover or something like air duck? Any idea? I would like to repair this ASAP before long trip to San Francisco and Portland next week. Thanks.
  18. As far as sound quality may improved over stock stereo, but can't really tell. I've use PAC-OEM2 converter to integrate with stock/Boss amp and speakers. Only thing pulled out from stock audio is head unit. AVIC-3 with iPod, and XM NavTraffic is all seperate units. AVIC-N3 main controller is installed under passenger's seat, iPod unit is installed behind GT-3 console delete box, XM NavTraffic in behind passenger's leg wall/carpet area. I will post more photos from installation and actual video/sound if I can.
  19. Today I had my AVIC-N3 unit with iPod and XM traffic navigation install from local dealer. For working with Boss amp, I had to use PAC-OEM2 converter, which is recommanded by crutchfield and Al & Ed Autosound.
  20. While I was working on my top repair, I came to use bubble level to synch my top transmission. It seems to work perfect and no more guess work. Sync driver side first with attach cable to drill and just watch bubble level and do the same to passenger side. B)
  21. How do I correct this problem, picture you've post is almost same as mine, but mine is not that extreme. probably half inch up on passenger side. how do I flush with the body of my car? bang it with my bare hand? :D Thanks Tool Pants.
  22. I couldn't tell. when it failed, I was driving 12mph as it was closing in.. then bang! joint ball cap broke off when cable got cut off. so it is possible.. if clamshell got tweak, how hard is it to fix it?
  23. Top repair session went this morning, took all day long.. many adjustments, trial and errors :) Replaced driver side cable (microswitch was in driver side transmission, Thanks Tool Pants) and replaced broken red ball cap with white, but used same old push rod instead. New revised push rod is bit longer and had difficult to make adjustment. Top is working and keep making adjustments, but it came down to little problem. Passenger side hood wouldn't go all the way. Do I have to use force, push it down? I looked at inside where the push rod is and it is blocking guide arm at the end which lead to raise the hood to tilt up.
