  1. The 997 was never fitted with a reversing camera, and I don't know if it has the (Fakra) input connector or if the coding  option is available.  Several people have retrofitted them to the Cayenne which also uses PCM2.1.

    As a first step, I would check that the PCM unit has the input connector, and get it plugged in to a PIWIS tester to see if the coding option is available.  Here is the rear view of a Cayenne PCM2.1.  I believe the camera is connected to "K".

    I'm confused. Sorry.  When you say the fob works, and the dash button yields the same result, do you mean that the system locks and the immediately unlocks?

     

    As wyovino asks, did you fit a complete new passenger door lock mechanism?

If you are removing the PCM the individual memories should be retained.  To change them in the future, you can have it done by someone with a PIWIS tester (or maybe Durametric Pro).  They are stored in the Key settings in the PAS module.  You should still be able to change the DRL setting through the OBC.

    You should really have the other modules re-coded to remove the PCM, Phone, CDC, etc from the Gateway controller.  If you don't, you will get all sorts of CAN communication errors between modules.  You won't see them yourself, but any techs trying to diagnose a problem at a later date will be tearing their hair out trying to figure out what is going on.

  4. I'll wager it is one of the microswitches inside the door lock mechanism (there are 5 switches inside, in addition to the switch on each handle).  The door lock can't read the one which says it is locked, so immediately unlocks.  Or it could be the switch which senses that the door is closed (thinks it is open), causing it to unlock immediately.  Triple-locking with the fob or key will force the system to lock, but it is only a temporary measure.

    As Loren says - clear the codes and see which ones come back.  13, 14, 59, 60 & 61 are the clues that the microswitches aren't reading correctly.

Of course, it depends very much on the previous owners driving style and location, but in the UK we would reckon that 30mph would be a reasonable average speed.  A heavily tracked GT3 might be higher, and a London-based Tiptronic model somewhat lower.  If you can find someone with a PIWIS, or up to date Durametric Professional local to you, that would be the certain check.  There is a registry of owners in the diagnostic section, and I'm sure any one of them would help.

    Last point and I'm sure it's related but the little lock switch on the centre console is always on. I'm new to Porsche kettles so I'm not sure if that is correct or not but it doesn't go off.

     

     

    Quite possibly, because if the alarm module still thinks the door is locked, I suspect the switch light will stay on.

    You don't say what model year the car is, but if you look up the part number for the door lock you may well find it has a VW part number, and you can often find genuine new ones on eBay for around £30-40.  Some use the lock from a Mk 5 Golf, but you are better searching by part number, to be sure.

A double beep is a system fault (a single beep is an open zone).  The most likely culprit is the microswitch inside the door lock mechanism which senses that the lock has reached the unlocked position.  Of course, it could be either the driver or passenger lock.  Best bet is to get a diagnostic check done which will show what the fault is, and which side.  The microswitches inside the door lock aren't listed separately, so you have to change the complete lock mechanism.

  8. It all looks a bit suspect to me. 

    18000/580=31kph average (19mph).  For a GT3?


    The airbag module reads 830 hours.  This starts counting when the ignition is switched on, whereas I think the Operating Hours counter in the DME (580 hours) records the engine running time.  You would expect a discrepancy, but 250 hours?

    And the ignitions in rev range 1 only 79, 22 hours ago?  It is a GT3 after all, and you would have expected some slightly more spirited driving than that during its life, assuming it is manual transmission.  Even my Cayman 2.9 PDK had some in rev range 2.

    There may be a plausible explanation, but unless the seller can provide one I would be very suspicious.

    The batteries for the tyre pressure sensors are integral to the sensors, in the wheels.  You have to change the whole sensor.  As it is 8 years old, and the batteries have a life of 7-8 years (at best) then you would be best replacing all four.

    Bluetooth was introduced with PCM3.0 (in MY2009), and you likely have PCM2.1.  There are some good aftermarket Bluetooth phone modules available for 2.1.  Google ViseeO Mosto, or NAV-TV Tooki.

  10. Depends on how it is flashing:
     

    Four functions of the coolant warning light:

    1. Engine coolant level too low
      - light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz)
    2. Engine compartment temperature too high
      - light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz) (engine compartment blower might be faulty)
    3. Engine coolant temperature too high
      - light is lit; pointer on the right
    4. Temperature sensor at water outlet faulty
      - light flashes rapidly (1 Hz); pointer on the right

    Note
    The temperature warning in point three is indicated if the conditions "engine coolant temperature too high" and "engine coolant level too low" are present simultaneously
     
    (1Hz = 1 flash per second.  0.5Hz = 2 seconds per flash)
