  1. That would be true IF your gauge reading of 1 bar was accurate. However, it is not even close. :D And what makes you think it's not accurate?? The specs I found for this engine are 5 bar@5000 RPM with a oil temp of 90C. I think you might be trying to fix something that isn't broken. All you have to do is replace your electronic sensor with a mechanical pressure gauge to see the real reading. Mobil Water is not vicious enough to properly protect bearings during low pressure and high load conditions. Just like your coolant gauge, your pressure gauge is no more than an idiot light as far as accuracy goes. That is incorrect advice regarding the viscosity of Mobile 1. I am a Chemical and mechanical Engineer and can tell you the viscosity is just fine for protecting the bearings at low and High Pressures. The only instance where it would not be able to protect would be in extreme heat conditions that would be from running your Porsche at very high speeds 150 MPH Plus for a long period of time (45-minutes to an hour). As far as the accuracy of the Temp guarge, that is also incorrect. While a Porsche Thermister, which reads the temperature, is not as accuarate as an F1 Glosken Gauge, it is accurate enough to Plus or minus 1.9 degrees in the normal running spectrum. The other consideration is the effect of altitude and possible humidity in the thermistor, but the negative impact on the thermistors readings are negligable.
  2. 44,000 on my '08 911 turbo but more impressive..... 233,672 miles on my 1966 911 S.. I was a Sales rep in the 70s when I got it and made monthly trips from Philadelphia to Atlanta.. I call it my I95 Cruiser.. Never a major problem, still the same engine I just do the ususal and customary maintance and services..
  3. I recently moved to the Philadelphia area and have had my car at Main Line Porsche several times. My car is a 2008 Porsche Turbo and everytime I bring it in the Porsche folks think it important to degrade my car. Two weeks ago it was, "nice car but it is not as fast as the Ferrari" we have and last week it was "nice car but not as fast at the lambo luggeri (SP) we have in here!" In the service department the answer is always "we don't know how long it will take to get fixed". After last weeks Turbo adjustment I heard a banging noise in the back of the car after picking it up. When I got home I poped the engine lid and there was a 8 inch wrench that was left behind. I called the dealer Service got voicemail and have not heard from them. I called again and was told they are experiencing phone problems. a week later still no call back. I come from Boston and am really suprised at this Porsche Dealers attitude. I have owned 12 Porsches in my life and this Porsche dealer has to know that there must be a ton of people that look elsewhere for purchase and service. With todays economy most people are trying to work harder and better at their jobs, these guys could clearly care less.. I have never experienced this at a Porsche dealership. I am going to buy my wife a PDK 911 for her 50th B day and I guarentee it will not be from Main Line Porsche. Alan
  4. I have a 2008 Turbo and recently test drove the PDK. It is really surprisingly fast and very fluid. i love the turbo and would not trade it in but am looking to get a cabriolet PDK for my wife in September.. Just need to make sure my car is the fastest in the family :D
