Sad story - started an upgrade project for a 986 1997 Boxster - but bought a Tiptronic car- vs Manual
Obviously want the car to be manual for track!
Porsche Dealer who started the upgrade had estimated the tip to manual conversion would cost approx $AUS 2,500 extra
- pedal box, cables etc
- this was factored by me into the purchase of the car (not bought from the dealer)
- I sold the Tip in exchange for a 5-spd box
Accessed a Boxster S engine, bored to 3.4l & fitted with Sports cams etc -Porsche X51 package
- circa 260kw
Now all involved are worried as its an ex-TIP, the cost to do the complete manual convert could be a huge unknown & further, we will never be sure all the car’s electronics will be “talking to each other” – ie ABS, Eng Mngmt, etc
Situation:
- worked 3.4l engine sitting on wooden blocks in the car – ie not connected to transmission etc
- was a big job to strip the car down & make space for the 3.4 l engine!
- Dealer got it to start
- manual 5spd box ready - will need upgraded clutch/flywheel
-manual wiring harness accessed – but looks a little tired
Was using the Tiptronic to start a fatal decision?
I'm now "half pregnant" - ie will cost real $$$ to convert back to original Tip car & sell!
- or cost a potential huge $$$ to complete as per plan

yes - def a CS - per Porsche dealer
- agree with all your clarifications
except it DOES have side door air bags
- perhaps an Australian mod?

Hi to all GT3 fans & greetings from OZ :D
I have a GT3 CS MkII - MY04 - last imported into Australia
Extensive performance mods done - detailed below - so interested in "theoretical" performance statistics etc
Particularly, with differential ratio lowered from 3:1 to 4:1, what will be the new:
- top speed - vs 306km/hr in factory trim
- 0-100km's time - 4.5secs in factory trim
Also - any other mods I should consider??
- apart from my own driving!

MODIFICATIONS TO PERFORMANCE POST FACTORY
- motorsport differential with ratio lowered from 3:1 to 4:1
- lightweight, single mass flywheel
- Bilstein PSS9 2-way adjustable shock absorbers – height & damping rate
- 2 piece floating lightweight slotted front 380mm rotors
- Pagid yellow racing brake pads to front & rear
- Star motorsport exhaust
- catalytic converters removed

I have a 2004 GT3 CS - that was previously seriously upgraded for track/rally events.
Am keeping the performance parts - of course!! - but trying to make the interior back to factory spec
Advice appreciated:
- were the rear speakers ever connected?
- side/door air bags operational?
- passenger foot-well fire Extinguisher fitted - or just prepared?
- same for battery kill switches - internal & external - ready to work or need further prep?
- trip computer standard?
- aerial in windscreen?
- front cage was standard in all CS? - I hear about different types??
- only driver's harness fitted ex factory?

yes - the factory dash spkrs are rubbish! - replace with quality 2 way 4"
- that is all you can fit - dont cut up the dash to fit larger!
really comes down to just relieving these of bass
- I put in a 8" Bazooka subwoofer tube - ready to go - sat in passenger footwell
- no messing with car body etc
- easily removed for track days etc - just velcro in
