  1. I have a set of Fabspeed Cat Bypass pipes that i just removed from my 2006 Cayenne S and am looking to sell. I didnt see a "classifieds" section on here so if anybody knows of a good place to advertise these pipes for sale or if anybody is interested...let me know. Sorry If its against the rules to post items for sale here...

They have 5k on the pipes and are in perfect condition! Asking $400 plus shipping. Thanks guys.

  2. Hey guys, I used the DIY Changing Brake Pads section on here to change my front pads on my 06 Cayenne S and it went beautifully! Thanks to Loren and Mudman for their input and all others...saved myself some cash! Now I am trying to do the back set of pads but the caliper pins on the back are different than the front and there is no way to grip them. I tried using a hammer and center punch/screw driver but couldnt get it to budge. It appears it may be rusted or so much brake dust has accumulated that its stuck.

Anybody with ideas on how to loosen the back pins?? I am at a loss. Thanks!

  3. I have a 2006 Cayenne S and just had secondary Catbpypass pipes installed from Fabspeed. The car sounds great when you sit and blip the throttle. But if i roll the windows down and accelerate hard, I noticed that around 3000-3500 RPMs I get a tinny vibration sound. Once it shifts to the next gear, its gone. Its only evident during a hard acceleration. Could this be from pipes not installed properly? Bad/Loose Exhaust system? My buddy said it sounds like a Glass Pack muffler or Cherry Bomb muffler. Its not the ideal sound id like...any input??? Thanks

  4. I looked through my manuals and quickly found my Nav DVD and went to insert into the Nav DVD deck under the passenger seat. I tried to insert the DVD but the unit will not accept it, almost as if the power was off.

Just outta curiosity, did you make sure there is no DVD disk already inside of the unit? (although I have a feeling that you probably have done this already)

or have you tried this? master reset

    http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...hl=master+reset

    Good luck!

Thanks Mudman and PCST, I did push the eject button on numerous occasions but to no avail. My guess now is that i may have an issue with the DVD player because its non responsive. I will try the master reset and get back to you. Appreciate the input. Glad there is a good resource of knowledge. Thanks again!

  5. I just picked up a 2006 Cayenne S from a wholesaler today. It was a lease return and I got a good price on it. I was dissapointed however when I started the Cayenne and I received System Error: Navigation is unavailable on my PCM. I looked through my manuals and quickly found my Nav DVD and went to insert into the Nav DVD deck under the passenger seat. I tried to insert the DVD but the unit will not accept it, almost as if the power was off.

Now I could be making a simple mistake here or missing something obvious, but does anybody have input or experience with this? Thanks!

  6. I have a 2005 cayenne s. The PCM had been working fine up until the last few months. Nearly everytime you get into the car now and start it up the PCM comes on however the SAT NAV, AMPLIFIER and PHONE will not work.

    A message stating

    SYSTEM ERROR

PHONE, NAVAGATION & AMPLIFIER NOT AVAILABLE.

I spoke to the specialist at my local Porsche dealership about this and he said he would need to get the car onto the diagnostics to identify the fault.

I arranged to bring the car down to him when the fault appeared again.

As i stated this problem occurs nearly everytime you get into the car, however there are times when you get in turn the ignition on and the system works ok.

On three separate occasions i brought the car down to my local porsche dealership when the fault occured, but on each occassion ie ( after i got out of the car, locked it and went into find the service manager and came back out to the car) it had reset and was working. Making me to look like an absolute twat.!!!

Last week i was able to get the car onto the diagnostics when the fault occured. To my surprise and the service managers surprise no faults were being registered, even though the system error message was clearly visible on the head unit.

Stephen the service manager spoke with the head service specialist at the dealership and he said that in his opinion he thinks the problem lies with the BOSE AMPLIFIER in the boot.

Of course an AMPLIFIER isint cheap £800 fitted i believe, and this mighnt even been the cause of the fault.

Stephen therefore said he would speak directly with Porsche in Germany and the UK to see if they had come across problems like this before and whether they would be prepared to provide an Amplifier on SALE OF RETURN. IE if it isint the cause of the fault they would let him send it back.

To say neither Porsche UK or Germany were helpful is an understatement. Both said they had never came across this problem nor would they be prepared to provide an AMP on sale of return.

The fact i paid £58,000 for the car and have had it serviced and maintained (at great expense) through Porsche doesnt seem to matter.

I now have the choice of putting up with it or paying £800 for an amp with the real possibility the one i have is not causing the fault.

I am therefore looking to see if anyone has had problems like mine with their PCM, what caused the fault and how the fault was diagnosed.

Or even any ideas as to what the fault might be with mine from what i have said.

I am having the same system error message but with my Navigation System. I tried inserting the Nav DVD into the Navigation deck under the front passenger seat but it wont accept it, almost as if the power to the Navigation deck is off. Anybody with advice?

  7. Just reading at Futureshop and I see that Pioneers new AVIC-F900BT comes with a fibre-optic out. Now I am not a car electronics guy, but will this marry up to the Bose Headunit (It is fibre right?)Just wondering, I hate the PCM 2.0, it is so old and antiquated that I would like to get something that is actually up to date (w/o spending 5K)

    O yeah, I have a pepperS '04

    Cheers

    Parajed

Did you ever go with a Nav system for your Cayenne? I am i the same boat and wanting to put in something nicer on my 06. Let me know what you ended up doing and if you are happy with your decision. Thank you.

  8. I have looked online and cant seem to find good information on this topic. Does anybody know of a good Cold Air Intake for my 2005 Cayenne V6? I am looking to upgrade exhaust and put a chip in but want to know if I am considering all my options. Anybody with personal experience or opinion??? Thanks!
    :welcome:

I think a cold air intake on a normally aspirated car is a waste of money. Regardless of what the maker may claim any horsepower increase will be quite small.

None of these have ever been shown to make more than 2-5 HP in testing and some even cause loss of mid-range torque.

A turbo engine is a different story.

Thanks for the advice...would you suggest a Cat Bypass and Chip then or do you feel they would fall into the same category as the cold air intake?

Those will make a difference on turbo car but not a normally aspirated engine.

You will not get much more HP (less than 20) out of a normally aspirated modern Porsche engine.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Well, I got a great deal on an 05 Cayenne but its a V6. I knew the hp would be lacking when I bought it but I couldnt pass it up. I am just looking for the best way to increase horsepower with out having to sell it and go get the V8. Anything you would recommend? I have been an Audi guy for years but just made the switch this week...still learning. Thanks for the help!
