  1. Guy's I am trying to help out a friend with an aftermarket radio install on his 1996 993 (911) TT. I was told by the dealer that when the factory radio is removed the Alarm won’t work anymore. Is this true? If so is there anything out there that can make the alarm work with the aftermarket radio? Thanks.
  2. The control wire I have that goes from the roof to the back of the PCM has a 2 wires. My guess is that one of them is ground. You mentioned pin 6 for one is there another pin for the second wire?
  3. GCar, I too was planning this mod however after reading your experience, I'm hesitant in tearing apart my GTS and ultimately, not having a functioning camera. Most owners have also complained about the OEM unit's camera angle being too close to the bumper and subsequent narrow field-of-vision. Have you looked at NavTV's unit? www.navtv.com First off, does your GTS have the factory-installed ParkAssist option no. I7X2? If yes, the rear tailgate harness is supposed to be equipped with the aux connector for the camera. This is what the dealer parts man informed me. With respect to the security code, have you tried programming the system using the steering wheel '+' and 'mute' buttons? If not, drop me a line and I'll give you the instructions. I'd love to see if your retrofit works out! ~Andy Yeah, I got the equipped ParkAssist Option on mine. Everything is plugged in exept for 2 wires that go from the camera to the back of the PCM. I have tried the steering wheel + and mute buttons with no luck. I got some instructions from Navtv but it did not work for me. My guess is that you need the NavTV unit to make t work. Have you tried it?
  4. Did you purchase all the part numbers I listed above? If so the Control unit plugs into the wire harness (955-612-814-10 - Wiring Harness). If your cayenne came without the camera option then this harness needs to be swapped out for this one which included the connector for this control unit. Swapping out this harness is a nightmare but possible. It took me many hours trying this. After you change the harness the control unit is connected to the harness. The control unit is located inside the lift gate or back door. You must remove the entire panel to get to it and route the new wire harness as well.
  5. The control unit is located behind the lift gate. I took off the entire lift gate door panel off. It fits perfect in one spot held by the clip it came with and plugs into the wire harness in my part numbers list above. If your car never had a camera you need to swap out the entire harness wich is a ***** to do. Right now I am stuck on the 2 cables that plug into the rear of the PCM. No Idea what pins it goes to. Hopefully Loren’s diagram works. If you need more help you can PM me.
  6. Well I installed everything but Porsche wont give me the unlock codes to make the camera work. My next option is to buy a NAV-TV module that is supposed to bypass porches security and enable the camera. I still haven’t done that yet. The module runs around $700.
  7. I been trying to install an OEM rear view cam on my 09 Cayenne GTS for a while now. I got it all hooked up for the exception of 2 wires that look to me that connect to the back of the PCM3 radio. I was wondering if anyone here had a GTS like mine and is whiling to help me out by popping out there PCM3 and looking for the connection I need. Anyone here can help?
  8. Loren, do you happen to know where this wre from part # 955 647 218 20 connect to in the back of the PCM 3.0?
  9. How about adding a second Griots Ultra compact air horn? Will that be an overkill?
  10. Loren thanks again for all the help and for your prompt replies. Will the wiring on my Cayenne support this new horn? Do I just cut off the connector and connect the 2 wires.
  11. Do you happen to have a sound clip? Is it super loud?
  12. Loren, do you know where the horn is located on my Cayenne? Do you have part number for the horn you purchased?
  13. I have a 09 Cayenne GTS and the horn on it sucks... It has a wimpy sound. Can the horn be replaced for something louder, better sounding, powerful horn? I’m not looking for a truck, semi air horn or anything like that just something that gives the Cayenne a better image when used. Do other Porsches vehicles have a loud strong horn I can use to swap out the cheese one it has stock?
  14. If anyone finds out any info on this, I would love to know. I am trying to retrofit my 09 Cayenne GTS with these illuminated door entry guards, but I want the ones that say "Cayenne GTS" not the ones that say Cayenne only. I have checked with two dealers and both have told me it just about impossible to get this done after the vehicle leaves the factory. I sent an email to Sunset and hope they can find a work-around for me. I even went to the effort to find a Cayenne VIN that had this option from the factory (as if I owned this vehicle) and they still told me it could not be ordered. If any news develops, please email me at jefftaylor@socal.rr.com. Thank you...........JT Did you ever manage go get the illuminated door slits?
