finally, 4 weeks after having received my speaker kit, i finally got them fitted today. Now, i am a bi disapointed... here is why: My car is a 2004 550 spyder boxster s. It has the sound pack and pcm2. Unlike my previous 2002 boxster s, my current car seems to have lost its fader adjustment. What a disapointment! I cannot increase the volume coming from the rear :( The kit obviously works fine, but here i must admit that i feel a bit unlucky.... Why did porsche remove the fader adjustment on pcm2??????????????????

received the PNP kit from the US (i live in the UK) and looking to get this fitted next week. By reading the comments i can' t wait. :rolleyes:

i KNOW for sure my car has no short shift mechanism. I am just wondering if anyone with a 550 got a SSK? Does porsche have a kit for this car? Otherwise i will go down the B&M route or something else. I will just wait for my factory warranty to expire first...

Thanks Jeff. Loren, the 550 has a short stick, but not the short shift mechanism if i remember correctly.

a B&M or other? how to do to work around the short stick? Will that give a short-short shift? Other question => does any one know if a 550 spyder exhaust is identical to a 2003-04 boxster S except for the tips? I think the answer is yes, but i' d like to be 100% sure... Thanks, Eric.

Jeff, i actually remember that post, and i had investigated with local porsche dealers in the UK and in Germany at the time, but the answer was that it was only available in the US. Not homologated in Europe. Maybe this has changed? Do you know of any other way to get hold of one of these? direct from the manufacturer (eisenman?)? Regards, Eric.

Unless someone proves me wrong or show me some original alternative! I had a look at the eisenman website, but no sign of porsche. I always thought the facelift 986s PSE was NOT available in europe? Please prove me wrong!

Jeff, i spoke to Marcus at Oettle and he said he already modified post-2003 (facelift) boxster s exhausts. He also mentionned that i send him my 550 tip and that he would put it instead of the dual pipes + i saw pictures of the 2003' s modified on ebay and mounted on a car. So i assume that it does work... Only thing i fear: is the 550 spyder rear bumper identical to the regular facelift boxster s??? Who is that Andy in the thread you mention? Funny he is near Stuttgart as Oettle is very near that place too! They are in Ulm.... Is it the area of Germany where they all manufacture sport exhausts for boxsters???

Hi everyone, I just bought my 2nd boxster s last week in Germany. It is a 550 spyder manual, with PCM and cocoa dressing. I was going to buy 987s but decided to get the more 'unique' boxster.... although a bit less modern. I bought it to an OPC with 1 year guarantee and had a very good deal too! My question is the following for you guys, i had an oettle sport exhaust on my previous car: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...type=osi_widget I want to put one of my 550 spyder because i thought the sound was awsome and complimented the car really well.... My problem is for the tip of the exhaust which is specific for the 550... the guys at oettle do not have any of these, and they are v expensive at porsche (500 euros for a tiny bit of metal)... Shall i just use a normal facelift exhaust and transform it and keep the original one in storage? I' d have a 550 spyder with regular twin pipes.... What do you guys think? Or if someone knows where to get only the 550 spyder end pipe for reasonable money so i can send it to oettle and they attach it to a facelift exhaust... pls do!

Hello everyone, just wondering if someone can help... I am after a 'special' LHD 911 porsche and recently came across a 993 carrera S but in US specs and very very good condition... But a few things scare me about a US spec car (plastic bits on bumpers being the main thing). Does anyone know what are ALL the differences between a European LHD 993 c2s spec car and the same car in US specs?? I know about the bumpers allready: does anyone know how i could remove the plastic bits at the front and the back??? i think they are horrible... Or will i have to buy brand new front and rear bumpers if i want the car to look 'good'?? I also know about pressing the clutch to start the engine... Anything else different? Many thanks in advance. Hi Jerry, this is the exhaust from the german company.... you are the only one i hear from who now has the same exhaust as me.... I absolutely love it: throaty when you want but not intrusive a cruising speeds... What do you think about it? How did you mod your suspensions? cost + what bits did you change? Regards, Eric.

no resonance in the boxster. when i used to drive lotus elises, i could barely find any exhaust with no booming in mid-range. No such problem here: remember there are bypass valves added to the exhaust. Meaning that when the engine is under load, then the flow of gas is forced into the 'normal' exhaust (same as standard and not through the bypass pipes), so the noise tends to be less loud.

Guys it is now 3 months since i have the exhaust and it is definitely a great mod for the 2002 boxster S. When the roof is down it sounds like a 996 C4S equiped with the factory sport exhaust. When the roof is up, you can barely notice the difference (ditto my girlfriend who knows nothing about cars, but is quiet fussy about noises!). A great mod, and very surprising given the price and the quality of work.

Orient Express, is there such a thing as 'an excellent FM transmitter'? If yes , please tell us which one, because my understanding is that in town, they are pretty useless.

been looking at this thread for sometime but did not get involved.... Now i am getting more interested as i have a soft window and i bet it will not be eternal... Anyone has more to say about the GAHH roof and the reliability issues?? Have they been fixed? Are they still craking above the window?

Nifty, I did not measure it but about 2.5cm seems correct. I drove the car again yesterday (back from holiday). And still amazed by the change in both noise and performance. I was thinking about selling the car.... no way now!

THAT' S IT, I HAVE DONE IT!! I am not usually raving on websites about things but today i am really enthusiastic so i thought i' d share it with you guys! I have bought the exhaust above. After looking for 2 years on all possible boxster & porsche websites, i decided to take the plunge. For 3 reasons: -the price was very attractive EUR 350 + shipping (all in roughly £260). -The exhaust is standard porsche exhaust only modified (the guys buy second hand items on ebay, modify them, then sell them). -The technical solution (bypass pipes) is clever. So the car remains standard. I hated the looks of 'shower' OEM sport exhaust. I got the exhaust fitted to my 2002 boxster S 3.2 (manual) yesterday. Took the guy about 3 hours as some of the weldings were not perfect and he had to slightly modify them. I also got the guys to polish the exhaust + pipes so it looks great from the rear. THE RESULT IS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!! The 1st essential moment was puting the key and starting the car: awesome! What a change! The sound is completely transformed: very deep and raw. Very much like a 996 equiped with a factory exhaust. Even the guys from the Porsche garage were impressed! (they usually deal with classic 911s.....).. I went for a drive and honnestly after reading much about sport exhausts was not expecting in performance increase.... If anything, i was even expecting to loose a bit of low down torque.... It is actually the exact opposite!! I cannot believe it, it feels like someone had removed the handbrake! I also got a bit scared that the noise in the cabin would change and get boomy at 3-4000rpm, but not at all. The noise is very similar although a bit more aggressive across the rev range.... Bottom line: i spent about £400 between the exhaust and the fitting, and it feels like a new car. I am over the moon!

just bought one. at eur 375 (including shipping) which is around gbp250 i am not taking too much risks. i will keep you posted on the results.

ok.... i spoke to the guys in germany.... Apparently what they do is buy 2nd hand boxster exhausts from ebay and modify them. They install the bypass vavles as seen on the pictures. The guy did sound rather reliable and seemed to know well what he was talking about.... but if someone has actually bought from them and can comment... would be much appreciated.

The boxster S box looks v good, any bad / good experiences on buying from this guy? The price is very attractive. Is it stainless steel?

http://www.downtube.com just been and had a look. didn' t know them. They are fairly similar to Dahon' s apparently. I can see your point re-porsche roof system and bike carrier. They are not great to have on the car. One of these bikes would certainly fill your rear trunk. You may even have to remove the wheels when folded so that it fits. The only one which would probably be a decent 'ride-able' bike and that would fit your front boot when folded without removing the wheels would be a Brompton. They are very popular here in London. The basic model cost about gbp300. Eric.

AdSachs, i have been around this issue many times. As i am a cyclist myself. Folding bikes are expensive. I bought a Airnimal which cost me about gbp 1200. See www.airnimal.com Otherwise Dahon make a large range of models. Their 20inch wheels range fit the car if you remove the wheels (see their websote for more details www.dahon.com). I think a Brompton would also fit a boxster. Eric.
