  1. Just bought a 2005 Cayenne Turbo with Factory installed Cayenne Power Kit. Does anybody know what is the actual HP of this baby, Torque, 0-60 etc. I tried to look it up but no luck so far.

    Tx

Essentially what you have is a Cayenne Turbo S, therefore on tap is 513bhp, bigger calipers and discs all round, larger intercoolers and stronger front air struts.

Not sure what you meant to say but enjoy the ultimate factory Cayenne!

  2. Hello All

I've just started to get the common Air Suspension Fault Warning (2003 TT) on my instrument cluster, sometimes when I start the vehicle, sometimes a few metres down the road and sometimes not at all! Vehicle has covered 70,000 miles.

The air suspension seems to be working as normal, not noticed any difference.

    A scan with Durametric (On Level Control) has revealed the following;

1772 - Signal Lead for Pressure Sensor

Can this problem be resolved with the VW Compressor re-build kit? Sorry, I did do a search but could not find any real answers.

    Thanks

  3. do not drive the turbo;

    you will want it !

having put 7K mile on our 04 Turbo in 5 months, I would have no problem in reccomending the older model, service history checking out OK

I'll second that, do not under any circumstances drive the Turbo unless you plan to buy it, otherwise the Cayenne V6 & V8 will seem inferior performance wise.

I have a 2004 Turbo too, had it 8 weeks and covered 2K without any problems.

  4. Loren - Could you please help me with this? I still have not resolved it, cant see where the pipe is supposed to go.

    Thanks

I think you are going to have to look at another CT - none of the diagrams I have show the lines routing - they only show the major components.

Perhaps someone here can look on their CT and even take a pic for you.

    Thanks Loren

    Appreciated as always.

  5. Hello All

Today I checked my spark plugs and noticed that one of the breather pipes seems to have broken away and fallen off. It would appear that a 'bodge' job was carried out to rejoin the two pipes as a larger pipe has been used to sleeve both ends of the pipe.

The problem is, I have no idea where this pipe is supposed to go and it is not easy to see around the back of the engine. Also, I've no idea what the effect the broken pipe will have on the vehicle.

I have attached two photos showing the pipe in question, feedback would be greatly appreciated as always.

    Regards

  6. just came across this company which specifically confirmed that this will work fro PCM3.

    http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.php?prod...t=21&page=1

sound too good to be true. anybody has heard of them have any experience?

Seems like good value. Installation instructions seem sufficient, however it is not for the novice, I would recommend having it done by someone comfortable with this kind of thing. The actual interface PCB is definately made in China - perhaps the reason for the good price?

  7. hello,

Apparently, the Porsche PCM2 got many software version.

I'm talking about Software, not hardware.

    I can see v1,2 and 3...

What differences is there between all the release?

And how can I upgrade my PCM2.0 to the last 3.0 firmware?

    Thanks!

Hi - Apparently you can upgrade the PCM2 firmware using a CD-ROM from Porsche. This disc upgrades the firmware from software version 2.0 to 3.0. Im not really sure of the actual improvements but I believe it enables Post Code/Zip Code Input for destination?

I have an upgrade disk for 966/Boxter but not for Cayenne, apparently these use a different Device Number (6635 I think).

    Can anyone else help us?

  8. Im a month into owning my 2003 Cayenne Turbo and have noticed that whilst cruising, particularly on the motorway, the Tiptronic is 'slow' sometimes changing up from 4th to 5th. In this instance the Revs increase and when the 'delayed' changeover does take place eventually I am greeted by a thump as the changeover happens abruptly. This does not always happen but has happended quite a few times.

Driving in Manual mode the Tiptronic unit seems to respond quickly to any requests to change gear.

is this a valve body problem or does my Tiptronic ECU need a reflash to latest s/w version?

    Thanks

  9. i just had the spark plugs replaced with porsche ones 99917022190.

when i turned on the engine it appeared worse that with the old plugs and the CEL light came on immediately and solid.

i reset the durametric error codes and ran a new check. Errors on cylinders 3 and 7 no longer appear but now i have a new error on cylinder 8

    PO300 (like before)

    random/multiple cylinder misfire

    detected

    present

    PO308 (new issue)

    cylinder 8 misfire detected

    short to ground or positive

    present

i remember seeing the mechanic (who was very tired) trying to mount the left side cover on the right side and pushing exactly where cylinder 8 is located. he them realized that it was the wrong cover and used the correct one. i suspect that the original problem was solved by replacing the plugs, and that the mechanic created a new issue. looking at the engine i can see all cables going to coils perfectly perpendicular except for the cable of cylinder 8 that appear bent. could i be right?

i will go back to service and any advice will be highly appreciated.

    thanks for your help

Check bother the Coil and Injector wiring/plugs for any shorting or lack of insulation.

  10. hi all,

i have just bought a 12/2004 4.5s cayenne on ebay (yes i know) but from a crowd with over 200 sales this year and 98.5 positive feedback. Here's the rub---

they phoned and said that there was a ticking coming the engine and that it was going to be fixed. Diagnosed as lifter fault but i know the engine uses two cams and springs. after waiting a month on parts i am now told that the small end is away on on of the pistons and awaiting a new piston. Sounds strange, i phoned a couple of POC's who said never had a problem like this and three top independants who said similar.

The vehicle is dec 2004 with 33,000 miles on it, it also has a LPG system fitted bought for £16,511(black on black) which i feel is very cheap---no reserve auction

Finally my question has anyone ever had a problem similar on a 4.5 with relatively low miles or does it sound like a put off, i am informed that the engines are bullet proof and i so want to buy the vehicle but not a lemon.

P.S. i have to fly to england to just see the vehicle i am in N. Ireland any help accepted

I remember this vehicle going on ebay a couple of weeks ago or so. It looked clean and LPG on a Cayenne S is ok if installed correctly, however Porsche do not recommend it and forget about OPC Warranty. Never heard of the problem he mentions, sounds like bull to me. Anyway, it could be that the seller has decided he could get more for the vehicle and trying to put you off the sale (most likely).

  11. Had some luck with rectifying the fault on the PCM.

With the defect active I began taking some DC voltage measurements from the test port connector on the board.

I noticed that the DC voltages were not stable and kept fluctuating.

I began flexing the PC board gently and noticed that the voltages became stable when the board was pressed around the ST10F269-T6 chip.

I reheated the solder on all the power pins of the same chip and WELLA, the orange LED illuminated and all is well.

Special thanks to TwinCharger for the advice of reflowing the solder.

The ST10F269-T6 chip is marked with a red A and the power pins are marked in yellow. The test port connector is at position B.

Unit has been reinstalled in the vehicle and has operated perfectly since the repair.

Well done - glad I have been of help!

  12. I have a Cayenne Turbo 2004. The cel came on.

I went to the local Porsche service and they said it had misfires in several cylinders.I checked with Durametric and it was correct.

They replaced ignition coils. (Spark plugs were replaced last year 8000 miles ago). The car still does not run smoothly so I checked today with durametric software myself and verified that only cilinder 7 still has misfires. Someone suggested a compression problem. Please advise. What could it be? Thanks for your help !

Please use lower case - so much easier to read.

Also, please post codes from Durametric - I have just gone through the same problem on my Turbo and resolved it.

  13. The car side of the wiring is ok as I have had the unit out of the car and on a bench with a power supply connected to it and have witnessed the same fault.

On the bench the unit powered up perfectly with active display and was able to select different modes. Then on another occasion the unit shows the same fault, ie blank display, the cd spins up for about 30 secs and stops, and the orange light emitting diode (led) is not on.

The main board is double sided and a little complex to visually trace back the power circuit. This is where the circuit diagrams would be handy.

I don't believe the unit is losing all its power because with the fault present, the cd spins up ok, the fibre optic led flashes on the back of the unit and the display illuminates with the backlight although no picture or letters are present.

I have had the unit on a bench with a power supply connected and with the fault present it still draws about 500mA of current.

It is very likely a dry solder joint somewhere, however, trying to spot it on a PCB with surface mount components is gonna be near impossible. I recommend reflowing the board with Heat Gun, it will definately solve the problem. These units can get quite hot and suffer if any soldering is sub-standard.

  14. Cyl. # 1 is on the oil filler cap (where # 4 is on the pic.), - cyl. # 5 is on the opposite side (where # 8 is on the pic.)

    Hope it helps.

RFM - Many thanks, all you guys have just resolved my problem!

I pulled the injector plug for cylinder 1 as indicated by wvicary and noticed that on the injector cable one of the wires going into the injector plug must have been rubbing against something and now exposed showing about 2mm of copper about 5mm away from the plug. It must have been shorting somehow since the voltage is effectively a pulse, and I know the heat does not help. I have for now wrapped the exposed copper in insulation tape and the cayenne is now running beautifully.

Ideally, I need to cut away the exposed copper and re-solder to a new injector plug. Does anyone know if these plugs can be purchased from Porsche?

    Thanks

  15. Hello All

Glad to be part of this community. I have just got myself a 2003 Turbo and was experiencing misfires and hesitation. The yellow engine check is lit solid and sometimes goes off then comes back after a while. I believed this to be a coil problem so bought a set of four genuine Porsche Coils (terminated with '05' part number so latest revision) to replace the right bank of the engine (when you are looking at the engine from the front with hood open).

When I removed the 'old' coils they were in new condition, no visibale damage at all and these were porsche items and also terminating in the '05' part number.

This seemed to resolve the problem, it was running smoother and yellow engine check light now gone, but when I took it for a test drive it seemed to be still hestitating on load. I took it onto the motorway and planted the throttle. The engine started to hestitate and misfire on load and eventually lost power and the yellow engine check light started to flash a few times then went out.

The strange thing is, since then engine is now running rougher than before since I put it under load on the motorway. Yellow engine check light is now back on solid lit. I am going to try swap the left bank coils too as soon as I get myself a XZN Triple Square bit to take the stabiliser arm off to remove the engine design cover.

Could someone please tell me, if I am looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle, what number are the cylinders? I assume the bottom left one is 1, then the one above 2, 3, 4 etc..... The bottom right one is 5, then 6, 7, 8 ?? I did try to search for this answer but have to admit it confused me.

    Regards

    Guys

Im still not 100% sure that I am looking at the right cylinder here, could someone please tell me where cylinder one is supposed to be?

Could someone please look at the image below and tell me if I have got the cylinder numbers right? Thanks

  16. Guys

    Just to update you all. I got round to replacing all the spark plugs and the other bank of coils with new ones. So the Cayenne now had new plugs and coils. When I fired up the Cayenne it still seemed to be running rough and CEL was still lit solid. So I read codes using Durametric which gave me the following;

    P0201 - Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit

    P0300 - Random/Muliple Cylinder Misfire

    P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

    P0571 - Brake Switch A Circuit

    So I cleared codes and somehow the engine started to run smoother but still not firing on cylinder 1. CEL was now gone, I drove vehicle for 10 miles and all of a sudden Cylinder 1 started firing again. Another 10 miles and the misfire returned for a couple of minutes and then went again. CEL lit up again, I re-read usng Durametric and got the following;

    P0201 - Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit

The CEL has now gone but misfire comes and goes randomly, but most times engine runs ok and CEL has not returned.

When I originally pulled all the old spark plugs I noticed that Cylinder 1 plug was a little oily compared to the rest? Im not sure what else to look for now to resolve this problem. Can anyone help?
