  1. I found out today that my only local gas station no longer carries 93 octane. The highest octane around is 91. Does anyone know if octane booster actually works and if so which kind is the best? Thanks, Jarrod
  2. CEL came on today. I was expecting it because the engine cuts out upon cold starts. I am guessing that it is the MAF sensor after talking to a few mechanics. Has anyone had this same problem? If so, was it covered under your warranty? If not, what should I expect to pay? Jarrod
  3. so... does anyone have any ideas about this??? Is this normal? 3. When I start the car for the first time of the day i generally have to let the car warm up before I take off. Otherwise the car wants to die when I give it gas (almost like it is flooded).
  4. I will try that. I am going to call the dealership and have them check everything out as well. Do you know if I can expect a courtesy car while my car is in the shop since its a CPO?
  5. Around town the car is driven easy, but it is regularly driven for 30 minute periods on the interstate to work. I normally like to get on it while merging into traffic....otherwise regular rpms are in the 3000 range while cruising. Jarrod
  6. I do see oil coming out of the tailpipes....when the car sits and idles to warm up it always has a little oil in the puddle.. would you please elaborate on what I should be looking for/at in the PCV system? Jarrod
  7. the car has 52,000 miles, it goes through about 1 qt per 1200 miles. Idle is fine, but sometimes it flutters around 1000rpm. I bought the car with 43K and it had just had the minor servicing. thanks for the quick reply. jarrod
  8. Three comments/looking for opinions: 99 996 c2 CPO 1. I recently got my oil changed. The following day a friend said that I was blowing black smoke out of my exhaust when I shifted gears. I have never seen this problem in the past and I am assuming that it was just because the oil was topped off. 2. There seems to be a loud rattle only when I start up the car. I think that it is coming from the muffler area. 3. When I start the car for the first time of the day i generally have to let the car warm up before I take off. Otherwise the car wants to die when I give it gas (almost like it is flooded). Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be bringing the car in sooner or later since its still under warranty. Jarrod
  9. I bought my 99 996 last year as a CPO. I have read a lot about oil leaks but not as much about oil consumption... My car seems to "burn" about .75 qt per 1000miles. I have never seen a leak from the car, but I do see oil in the exhaust puddle when i warm the car up in the mornings. I also see a minor film of oily crap from the exhaust on the rear bumper after a good drive when I wash the car off. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I get it checked out since I am under warranty? Thanks Jarrod
  10. I have read a lot of posts that it is pretty common. I have never seen a leak but i do see oil in the puddles of the exhaust. Should I have this looked at? The manual says that it is normal to consume oil....
  11. i bought my 99 996 with 44K miles last august (certified car with 2 year or 100K warranty) and i have had no problems. I have driven the car regularly and have put about 6K miles on it. I am planning on getting the oil changed sometime this summer. other than adding a quart of oil every 1000 miles the car is perfect. I would definitely encourage you to buy certified because porsche is very stringent on their certification. Plus, when you get the need for speed out of your system it will be easier to sell (as long as you are selling to an individual). Jarrod
  12. check this site out... there are videos and sound clips of fabspeed stuff. I have the cold air kit, and the maxflo mufflers with the tips. hope that it helps http://www.fabspeed.com/996.html jarrod
  13. I talked to someone today about powder coating the calipers and he said that the do it yourself paint kits are better because they use high temperature paint (and they are cheap). I checked into it and you can get the paint in any color @ http://www.departstop.com/Brake%20kits.htm and if you want the stickers, you can get them at http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...re&code=caliper Jarrod
  14. My 99 996 has Fabspeed Exhaust and it sounds **** good. I bought the car used with it already installed and all of my friends are always asking me what kind of exhaust it has on it. I don't know much about the BBs. Jarrod
  15. I recently purchased my 1st 911 and I was interested in getting the calipers powder coated red (they are currently black). Any recommendations? How much should I expect to pay? Also, how much should I expect to pay for new brake pads? Thanks Jarrod Norman, OK My Webpage
