  1. Hi All,

Just looking for some guidance in setting a value on 4 OEM rims and winter tires. I'm in Toronto and thinking of selling them, they came with my 996 and I have not, and likely never will use them.

They were on the car one season only, by the first and only other owner. (A friend of mine). He only drove about 100 miles total, as he had another car for winter and only took the 996 out for a run every few weeks just to keep the battery charged etc. After the first season he stored the car each winter, and I have done the same. The set were bought from a Porsche dealer as their recommended winter wheels/tires for the 996. Any clue what these tires and rims might be worth?

Rims- OEM 18" Cayenne S (I assume these are the rims I have as they are identical to those online, see pic) Excellent condition, barely a scratch.

Tires- Dunlop Grandtrek WT MZ. 235/65/18 (Easily 95% tread left)

I figure the tires were about $200 each new, so it's really the rims I need a value on.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  2. Can anyone recommend an HONEST Toronto area mechanic? I live in Whitby, but Yarko is unavailable. I have tried DFC, HPC (Heimrath - Mario) and a small indepenent, but I got hosed each time. I'm not looking for a deal, just honest work at a fair price! I know there are a few in the west end, but are there any in Scarborough/Durham region? I just need some minor work and a place to go for oil changes, brakes etc. Thanks,

Note - I am not looking for an ant referral, as my typo in the title suggests  I meant "any"

  3. Brake lights are fine. Lights now come on every time I press the brake the first time after start up and stay on 'til key is off. Pads seem fine, braking is good. Any other ideas before I go to the mechanic for code reading?

Check your brake lights - they can also cause both lights to come on at the same time.

If your brake lights do not come on then that is the problem - start with the pedal switch and if that is okay check the grounds on the rear lights.

    Thanks Loren,

As always you are a great help..

  4. I have a 2000 c2 Cab. About 2 weeks ago the abs and psm dash lights were coming on intermittantly. My mech said he couldn't find a fault, as the lights didn't come on when he test drove it (of course, the light never comes on for the mechanic!). He figured it was just dirt or something on the sensor, as the brakes and fluids were fine. Now the lights come on every time, as soon as I press the brake pedal. Any thoughts? Is my mech wrong? The car handles and brakes as it always has.

  5. I have a '98 Boxster 2.5 (US model) with the following CEL codes....I don't know what they mean and I'd like to go to the mechanic with a little info in my back pocket. Do I need new sensors? Thanks,

    P1123 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Lean Threshold

    P1125 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Lean Threshold

    P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Rich Threshold

    P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold
