  1. dutch i am having the same issue. "loud buzz" from compressor. is the valve replacement piece expensive? big part? i am still under warranty but my dealer said the noise was normal... but i know for a fact it is too loud as it was never like that before. i will take it back soon i think. I do know that the compressor was not as noisy before the work was done. It's noisy enough that, on two separate occasions, two different people have asked me what is that noise. That much noise in a $90k car, to me, is unacceptable. I have a friend with a Transsyberia, and he tells me that he cannot hear his compressor. I've had the car for exactly four weeks today. Of those four, it's been in the shop for one of them. It's scheduled for another "go" at the compressor/air suspension problems as well as "PSM FAILURE" next week. Sure doesn't speak well of Porsche's manufacturing QC.
  2. Thanks. Perhaps, coincidentally, the air suspension compressor has stopped working at the same time. I have a call in to my dealer.
  3. Just got this message in the multifunction display tonight. I assume that this is related to my air suspension compressor problems. Am I correct?
  4. Thanks guys. I guess that means from under the car and I have to drop that skid plate which runs the entire side of the vehicle from wheel well to wheel well. My mechanic just replaced the check valve that supposedly keeps the pressure up. Before the replacement, the compressor had a relatively quiet "purr". After the valve replacement it now has a fairly loud "buzz". I wonder if he neglected to replace some sound deadening material in there. Again, thanks!
  5. Can someone tell me where the air suspension compressor is located and how to access it? It sounds like it's located under the front passenger seat. TIA.
  6. Kind of like MB part numbers, too. I've sent Jeff an email. Thanks Loren!
  7. I wonder, since the "2010" Transsyberia showed up so early during the 2009 model year - way ahead of other 2010 models, if the brake pads (silver calipers) might not be the same as for the 2009 Cayenne S and GTS models. I'm hoping!
  8. Thanks Loren. I'll drop Jeff an email. The Hawk Ceramic Pads should be here Tuesday. Hopefully, they'll work.
  9. Can anyone tell me if the brake pads on my 2010 Cayenne S Transsyberia are the same size as those on the 2009 Cayenne S and Cayenne GTS? I want to replace the dusty factory pads with Hawk Ceramic Pads, but Hawk has no information on the 2010 models; and dealers don't want to provide information that will help 3rd party sales. From what I can determine they appear to be the same size. Anyone know for sure? I've ordered HB501Z-625 for the front and HB502Z-606 for the rear; so if I don't get any feedback here, I will probably have to disassemble to find out for sure. TIA!
  10. The best source for chains, if you want them is: http://tirechain.com/ He's a German car enthusiast himself. Tell him I referred you.
  11. It doesn't get that cold in Atlanta, but mine always starts in 2nd gear unless I have it in the Sport Mode.
  12. Thanks Loren. I would have thought the larger nut on the valve stem would have been greater than that; but it does have air pressure holding in place from inside.
  13. Does anyone have torque values for the TPMS valve stem and sender in the wheel? There is the external nut on the valve stem and the small Torx head screw that attached the sender to the valve stem. Thanks in advance for your input.
  14. My thought, too; although it settles down and stops doing all the readjusting once the car has been driven 4-5 miles.
  15. New Cayenne S Transsyberia with 250 miles on the clock. Air suspension compressor seems to run a lot (mild buzzing from under the front passenger seat) when first starting the car; and when driving in stop and go traffic seems to adjust, readjust and readjust the car level at each stop light. Compressor runs during each adjustment. Level is set at Normal and Comfort. Today, for the fist time after starting the car, there was a sound like drum sticks rattling on plastic coming from under the hood each time the compressor came on. After 2-3 times, this stopped; although the compressor continued to cycle as the car continued adjust and readjust its level for the first couple of miles. No error messages in the multifunction display. Normal? (I had AirMatic suspension on my MB ML, and it never acted like this.)
  16. In my Owner's Manual on p 194 in the PDCC section, there is a sub heading entitled: "Checking hydraulic fluid". In that sub-section it states: "Regular checking and changing of the hydraulic fluid takes place as part of servicing. "Further important information on 'Maintenance' can be found in a separate chapter. "> Please see the chapter 'CAR CARE INSTRUCTIONS' on Page 270." That Car Care Instructions chapter contains only information on washing, cleaning and waxing - no info on the hydraulic fluid. Can anyone illuminate this subject? TIA!
  17. I'm located in Atlanta, GA. My selling dealer says that there's no input for a 5th transmitter for the full sized spare. Bull! After the condition my selling dealer delivered the new from the factory car, I have no confidence whatever in their service people. In fact, f I do decide to keep this thing, I may have to do some traveling to get warranty work done. Do you know of any good local indy shops who might have a PIWIS? I wonder if the Durametric tool would do the job. The Pro model has some coding ability.
  18. Thanks Loren. Looks like the spare can be set up with a transmitter - with possible faults and error messages (4th from the last statement above), but it needs to be coded (3rd to the last statement above). I assume that coding requires the PIWIS or the Porsche System Tester II No 9588. Is this a good assumption? When I went into the multifunction menus, I'm pretty sure I found a place for this data. Here's my menu sequence: Main->Tire Pressure->Settings->Tyres All Season 18"->Spare Wheel->Spare Wheel (as opposed to the collapsible wheel). It then shows the following message momentarily: NO MONITORING SYSTEM LEARNING. It then reverts back to the Tire Pressure Menu with fixed, not measured, values of 34 in the front, 39 in the rear and 49 in the spare position. Am I "whistling Dixie" by thinking I can put a transmitter in that full sized rear mounted spare; and get it to work? Since I have 5 full sized wheels/tires, I really would like to be able to do a 5 tire rotation. Thanks for your kind assistance!
  19. I have the rear mounted full sized spare on my car. The spare wheel/tire is identical to those on the ground, except that it did not come with s TPMS transmitter. My selling dealer says that it's because there is only the capacity for four (4) data inputs into the TPMS receiver/computer. Another dealer tech says that there is room for a 5th (spare) input, but he wasn't sure if the PIWIS is needed to activate the function. I went into the multifunction menu and found what appears tio be the ability to input for the spare transmitter, if present. Does anyone have experience or knowledge in this area, and know whether the PIWIS is needed to get the spare activated? I plan to purchase an additional transmitter and have it installed. I'd sure like for it to function. Feedback anyone? TIA!
  20. Reply received today. Thanks for the response. Got a call a little later from my dealer. My Transsyberia is on a truck somewhere between the port (I forgot to ask which port.) and the dealership. Delivery could be tomorrow or Thursday, at the latest. It's gonna feel strange not riding behind a Star after all these 37 years.
  21. This one: porscheatcost@sunsetimports.com is what is in their web page on this site. I guess they don't monitor it.
