  1. Well called the dealer and the total cost to fix the immobilizer is over $1500.00 $500 for a new module $460 to reprogram the unit $240 Two new key heads Plus taxes. This is an expensive fix. I will be checking the **** drains every summer. This does not include my labour to remove the interior and dry out the car.
  2. Thanks Loren. What if we're to get a DME the immobilizes and the keys off another 996. Will that work? I see two drains in the front next to the batteries. Is there any others? I have cleared the following drains: Two in the rear by the rear speakers and the two by the batteries. Again this is a cabriolet. Finally. What is the part number for the plug next to brake booster. I see a 2" hole where the six pack cd changer cables are comming out. See attached pictures. Thanks again
  3. More pics. Took the carpet out to dry out the cushion. If I am to use a used immobilizer do I need the matching DME/ECU and the keys? My car is a tiptronic cabrio. Should the unit be from the year make model and options? 1999 996 cabrio tip.
  4. Recently I discovered my drains were blocked and the carpet was soaked. I fixed the rear drain and currently working on the front drains. Having an odd issue. 1. Interior lights don't work. 2. Lock button on the dash not responsive. 3. Key fob not locking or unlocking the vehicle. ( result in two beeps) 4. Manually locking the vehicle with the keys result in two beeps and only the driver door locks. I ran my duramatric and I get the following error message. Fault code 46, 58, and 60. I took the alarm unit 535 and saw green oxidation on the bottom of the board. I hear the relays clicking when the remotes are clicked or the dash door is depressed. Couple of questions. How do I clean the front drains? How many drains are there in the front? If I need to replace the 535 unit what else do I need to get from a used 996. I see comments about DME, immobilizes pill, remote control. Any help is really appreciated as I will need the vehicle in a couple of weeks for a wedding. Cobracars.
  5. I get my work done at : Auto Select 1228 Gorham Street Newmarket, ON L3Y 8Z1 Franz Chwojka (905) 853-0442 ‎ They have been very good to me.
  6. First thing to check is the fuse under the dash. I had my fuse go on my 996. Before you start taking the radio out.
  7. I finally finished the installation of a memory seat into my 996. Memory works for the seat but did not connect the rear view mirror. Will post some PICS shortly. MY FIRST DIY...
  8. I am looking at the front and rear bumper for my 996. They look to have a nice fit and finish. I am researching different manufacturers and they seem to have the design I am looking for. A couple of questions to the members: Has anyone ordered from these guys before Priordesignusa.com? Does it have a factory like finish or does the kit require extensive rework to fit the vehicle ( I bought a kit in the past for my Mustang and it was smaller by 1" ) What is "FRP (fiber reinforced plastic)" is it plastic / flexible or hard like fiberglass. Never sed it before. Any other advice or recommendation is welcomed. Cobracars
  9. No one in Toronto Area with a PIWIS or PST2. Alternatively what would be the estimated cost to activate the OBC at the dealership?
  10. Does anyone on the forum have a Piwis in the Toronto area. I need to get OBC enabled on my cluster. Thanks Cobracars
  11. Newbie.... First German vehicle.

  12. The side flaps are moving but very slowly, at times they stop moving and the dash light (for roof retraction) will flash. I will have to release the button (roof open) and try again, at times I have to push the close button and then try the open. Same thing happens when I try to close the roof. At times the flaps stop moving and then start again after a few seconds. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Ted
