This is a rewrite of a previous post to make it more appropriate for this forum... Anyway, if you're thinking of getting a Zeintop, it will not fit your Boxster if you have the Bose sound system installed! ...I don't think this information is currently included on their website... I found this out the hard way, and their return policy is not the greatest... consequently, if anybody in central MA wants one for much less than it would take ordering direct from Zeintec, mine's for sale! Matt

I would wager on heat shielding too. Problem is, there is a lot of up all up under the rear trunk, and down the side of the rear wheel wells and lining the rear bumper - it could be loose in any number of places. And it also is not one monolithic piece - there are four or more I think, overlapping each other, some of it permantely attached to plastic coverings. You can get to a few of the pieces by removing the rear bumper cover, and I also think the pieces along the rear would be most likely to be loose. Other thing to look at is the muffler mounts. Thanks for the reply, I'll ask them about the muffler mounts next time I'm in. It seems pretty trial and error (good thing they're not charging me anything yet!), so I think I'll just accept the fact that it's probably the heat shield until it gets any worse. They brought me into the garage last time and showed me the shields, he banged on them a bit with a rubber mallet and the noise sounded similar to what I'd been hearing, but not exactly the same. The places where the pieces overlap definitely seemed like they could be the culprit, but I'm still slightly uneasy about the whole thing. The fact that these are known to cause tinny rattles puts my mind at ease a bit though!

Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right place... I just bought my first Porsche - a 2004 Boxster S, it's got 60K miles and is in great shape. However, it does have a tinny rattling noise coming from the rear. I only notice it at low speeds, over some (but not all...) bumps, with the top down. It seems like the smaller, "high-frequency" bumps do it more than larger, more spread out bumps. Anyway, I've searched around this forum and found some posts mentioning that heat shields might make a tinny noise, and I've brought it to the dealer a few times and the latest thought they had is that it might be the heat shield (they say it's definitely not the control arms, they apparently have at least 10K more miles left on them). So they re-secured a loose bit of heat shield, but sadly this did not solve it. If anybody has any other suggestions for what this might be, I would greatly appreciate it! And sorry for being a noob :( Thanks, Matt
