  1. the sequence number in the boxsters vin is that the total boxsters built for that model year hence if your sequence was 00070 would that mean the 70th boxster built for that year?????
  2. i assume they are good to go with the 18 inch wheels i have on the car
  3. i am looking at upgrading the ECU and have noticed a fair bit of talk with the GIAC unit has anyone used the powerchip.. or know much about it. testimonials are great to read on a companies web site but third party info is a always better
  4. yes for parts ordering you are correct they ask what the vin thats normal procedure, and as for your bet yes you are right again....... its weird yes its myo4 with 05 plate its more a fact that people order cars personally and porsche australia has to fill a personal order quota so they get a range of different vehicles with options which some people most likely arent after so they get stuck with certain cars for a while. A great deal of the euro companies have this issue here. Audi had MY00 built TT's plated in 02, the local lamborghini dealer has 2 murcielagos built back in early 03 and 03 plated that are sitting idle brand new (great if you can wait for them to reach 2 years old as it deletes the luxury car tax saving you around 100+ grand off the purchase price)
  5. i have been looking at clusters and have noticed that on the rear sticker there is type US and type ROW. so i can get a clear understanding as i have heard from someone that the plugs on the rear of the US are different to ROW. is that a myth or do i start looking into europe for my parts.......... also i have found a few 996 c2 cluster that were from 6 speed 996 is this an issue as my 986 is 5 speed or it doesnt have any bearing at all
  6. its a 986. we tend to go by the first year of registration and or when the vehicle had its compliance plate fitted to the car which was January of 2005 for both reg and compliance. the 987 just got released last weekend in australia. For the non aussies before a vehicle is allowed to come into the country it needs to meet federal regulations (more so to keep our local vehicle market stable) so they tend to make overseas made vehicles comply with certain rules and regs that other countries would not bother with (much like your bumper stops on the US we dont have them here but you get the idea). When the vehicle is approved it is given one of two things a full volume compliance, meaning that that manufacturer or importer is the only person allowed to import and plate that vehicle in australia unlimited vehicle amount (silver coloured plate). Then there is low volume compliance 100 plates issued a year, this allows more than one person to apply and get approval as it is deemed to be a enthusiast type vehicle. You will find low volume on ferraris lambos that type of thing as they sell in very low number. (lamborghini in melbourne sold around 10 new cars last year so you get the idea) (Green coloured plate) Ok, So when a vehicle arrives it gets the aforementioned compliance plate fitted see attached pic........... and there we have it. Oh one last thing the complaince plate is plated as of the month and year it is plated not back dated to the build date of a vehicle.
  7. interesting to note. so i best be looking in the UK or back at home....... checked out that web site as well real uselful info specially with the arrows pointing in thee directions..... good to know i guess while were on the topic of light whats the importance of the headlamp cleaners on HID fitted cars.. is it to clean against beam scatter if the lens is dirty?????????
  8. adsach, IMHO i couldnt see why they would sell RHD lights in the US as they are set up for RHD cars (steering is on the right side as opposed to the left). I gather from tool pant's reply the US albeit having LHD drive cars has a totally different beam pattern to the other LHD countries.....
  9. i am going to change my centre console armrest to one thats been covered in leather. i have had a little look around and it seems that the most simple way is to remove the cover with the torx screws ( i hope thats the rigth terminology). does anyone have any other suggestions.. thanks
  10. any suggestions for a boxster 2.7L to lower and less body roll. i guess im just too used to the awd cars i have had in the past.
  11. the assembly on the litronic lights to allow a headlight washer unit can we retro fit it
  12. as we are on the rhd here in australia and our beam pattern on our cars face to the left yours in the US would face to the right. If i brought a headlight from the US (lets say ebay) can the beam pattern be changed to suit our roads or do i not bother wasting $$$ and source a local one.
  13. the pretty picture of the house that painted on the mirror so the guy doesn't forget what his house looks like when he goes on long drives
  14. have ya rung aporschapart in braeside melbourne for the gearbox.....
  15. now as you guys call the 996 a c2 in the states that would be one of the same as what we would call a standard 911 down here in australia........ rear wheel drive as i remember the 993c2
  16. wow so much to do....... is the cluster plug and play or is there a thread that has the how to for changing 986 clusters into 996 cluster..... thanks
  17. anyone know of or seen any rear quarter vents for a boxster in carbon fibre????
  18. Good morning all........ I am off to the dealership later this morning where the obc will be getting turned on. I understand after reading through the forum that if you and when you add the cdc4 stacker unit this needs to be turned on with the PST2 as well as for the PCM2 unit when added....... My question is if I am to do these upgrades in the near future is it viable that the cdc4 and pcm2 options be turned on or will this cause mayhem to the current stereo that is running (I have the upgraded porsche unit non bose). If Yes do we know what the relevant codes are to expediate it. thanks in advance AusBoxster
  19. Oh one last thing is there a year model difference on the stalks that wont make it work. I assume i need to ge a complete unit or is the single stork available????? thanks again
  20. thank you very much tool pants, now its a matter of going down to the dealership and getting them to turn it on.. Update to this last post I rang the guys no probs,,,,,,,.... so i just need to get my stalks and were off and running
