  1. I am the proud owner of a 2009 987-II Boxster S. I think that there is a way to turn on the LED lights under the headlights in the front fender, but the "Driving Lights" function in the computer just switches on the low beams. Am I mistaken? If not how do you do it?
  2. I recently acquired a 2001 986 with 94,000 very pampered KM on it. I noticed before sale that the front rotors were well lipped and knew I would have to replace them. After downloading some instructions from Bombaydigital I set to. I used the bleeding technique to push the pistons back into the calipers and was glad I did because, aside from a few bubbles, I also found these "goldfish" in the bled fluid. Wouldn't have wanted that to get into the ABS mechanism...
  3. Halo, I had a similar brainwave! I was messing about with the mount for a Tomtom GPS and came up with this: This pic also shows the iWireP iPod cable, which works perfectly, thus allowing me to free up the CD holder real estate. I used the same disk as you, I think, but mounted it on the underside of the inside of the sunglasses bin, a location enabled by the rather elegant design of the Tomtom mount: I think this is the best solution for our 986s. If the mount is removed the disk is almost invisible. A bit of WD-40 and patience should have the disk off if you want to really go "standard" standard. I hope this is useful to anyone else planning a discreet and removable GPS install. Hey: If anyone knows where to get those sleeves that "fatten up" the cigarette lighter plug to fit our extra-wide cigarette lighter sockets, please let me know.
  4. Hmmm, my cup holders are either very well hidden, or else absent without leave. (2001 986) Bugger. Must think again...
  5. Cup holder sounds like a plan. I've never deployed the beverage sherpas before. If I can up with something particularly elegant I shall report back.
  6. Hi, I love the dash on my 2001 986 and wouldn't want to change it. However, I would like to use a portable GPS unit. The usual place to stick these is on the windscreen. However this leaves an unsightly ring which is also a thief's invitation to break in and steal the GPS. I was thinking of mounting the unit to the dash using 3M velcro-type patches, but there's not a lot of room as one needs to keep the air bag area free. Does anyone have any nifty solutions for mounting a GPS to the 986?
  7. Gentlemen, thank you. When I knew it was supposed to go on the other side, I was confident enough to give it the force necessary to seat it. It was as stiff as a sixteen year old in a sorority. I love this car. I will introduce myself soon. Thanks again.
  8. I've just become the proud owner of a 2001 986. It came with the wind deflector fitted. Once I got it home I noticed that the centre clip at the bottom did not hold the perspex panel in place. It just pushes the panel to the rear. It is held in place only by the two clips, one on each headrest. The bottom clip does not appear to be broken, but I can't figure out if my panel is just fitted wrong or if I need a new centre clip. I've searched RennTech and other forums, googled images, but I can't see how the bottom clip works. Am I stoopid, or is my clip broken?
