I found the DME Relay last night. It is located in the fuse/relay box in the trunk...on the passenger side of the car. I have multiple #53 relays in the box...I would say there is at least four marked #53, so I looked a little more and discovered one that had DME printed on it. I pulled the DME relay and cranked over the engine of my car until I saw the oil pressure rise and stabilize around 20psi (this took about 5-10 seconds). Now that I know I have circulated the oil around the engine and I have oil pressure, I put the DME relay back in and fired up my car! She started right up...no noise from lack of oil in the valve train, no puffs of smoke out the exhaust! I wish I had known about this trick years ago!

Hello everyone, I'm going to be getting my 1998 C2S out of storage soon, and I would like to pull the DME relay prior to starting my car. I don't know where it is located...I'm assuming it is in the engine compartment somewhere? I heard that it was a good idea to pull the DME prior to the first start of the season to circulate the oil. I was also told that it is a good idea to keep a spare DME in the glovebox....I bought one, but it would not do me any good if I didn't know how/where the original DME is. Your help is much appreciated!

The relay is in the trunk on the drivers side, basically right behind the steering wheel. You have to have very small hands to reach both the turn signal relay and the door buzzer relay (they are both behind the truck shock absorber). The door buzzer relay is also right next to it, if anyone cares to know. After changing the turn signal relay there was a small increase in its volume....I can hear it a little better now that I changed it. Thanks for everyone's help on this matter.

You are correct...no problem with the turn signals at this time. I do notice that when I use the turn signals that it is really hard to hear the "click,click" noise inside the car? Is this normal? I would think the "click,click" would be a little louder? Would replacing the relay help solve this problem? Thank you.

Thank you for answering my question. Does it hurt to change it at every oil change, or is that a waste of time and money? I don't mind spending the money, but it makes changing the oil and filters a pain in the butt .... for me at least. Thanks

My car is a 1998 993 C2S. Does this help narrow it down a little? Thanks I should add, that all turn signals at this time are working fine.

I need help replacing my signal relay. The owners manual does not have its location listed. Any help finding where it is located would be great. I thought it would be in the trunk since there are relays and fuses up there? Thank you for your help.

I've owned my 1998 C2S for five years. In the past I have always changed the oil/oil filters prior to winter storage. Then I would uncover the car in the spring and fire her up...it always smoked a little at the first startup after sitting for four or five months without running and the engine sounds loud until the oil got circulated around the engine (sounded dry and rattled). The car only has 24000 miles on it by the way. I was thinking about leaving the oil change until spring and starting the car for ten or fifteen minutes ever month or so to get the oil flowing. What is the best think to do for the engine? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do I have to change both oil filters with every oil change? I heard that one of the oil filters has a longer change interval than the other...little filter or big filter I do not know? I would think the one behind the inner fender wall would have a longer change interval. I have been changing them both when the oil is changed, is this unnessary? If anyone can lead me to an answer that would be great. Thanks

I have had the same problem with my car over the past two years. The passenger's seat will not go forward or backward, then out of the blue it starts working again? I'm glad that I'm not the only one with the same issue.
