Spirited driving means driving fast around a couple of bends on a twisty road and stopping afterwards on a traffic light for instance meaning that maximum grip on NOT very hot tires is the goal since you don't sustain high speeds or push the car for more than a 2 couple of minutes at a time. I think the the 33/38 set up should be a good start for the track (to eventually reach the 41/46 hot) but marginally low for the road...
  2. I tried to search with no luck... Whats your experiences on tire pressure for the road? I got an Euro Turbo with P-Zeros... I'm thinking on going 34f and 40r, what do you guys think? Regards
  3. So, JZ guys by suggesting 12'' are actually keeping the OEM factory number on the front and increasing the toe (the double) on rear... am I correct?
  4. Wait a minute... if my calculations are correct if 12´' is 1,1mm then 1º50 is around 8,25mm total toe!!! Something is not right here... Apart from this I understand what JZ changed: Decrease front toe - increases turning in response and decreases understeer Increase Front camber - to decrease understeer (very effective) Increase rear toe - this usually plants the rear and decreases throttle oversteer... (probably not so keen on this one...)

  7. Does anyone has the OEM set up for the 996 turbo? The highly prestiged British company called JZ Machtech gave me their fast road wheel set up with OEM front arms, which is good for both road and track reducing the understeer dramatically and giving some stability on high speed track turns but the problem is we use mm not inches over here in Portugal can anyone help with the toe figures putting them in mm? Front axle: Camber 1º40' (maximum allowed by OEM arms) toe 12'' (total) Rear axle: Camber 1º30' Toe 28'' (total) Regards Francisco
  8. The 245 is 2054.91 and the 275 is 2034.49mm so there 1% difference between them which is fine and a maximum difference of 2,11% from the OEM 295/40-18 which is fine once again. Any time you need to calculate perimeters go to: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html
  9. Thank you once again for your input , Loren. I'll give the 235's a try and will dial as much camber as I can on OEM set up and see how it goes...
  10. On a clear attempt to reduce understeer and to comply with the GT3's "N" rating of 235's I'm thinking about fitting 235 fr and 295 rear. The calculations say the rolling radius diferences are... Brand new 235/295 = 1,7% New 235 and worn 295 = 2,6% New 225/295 = 0.5% I think I read somewhere the max admisible difference on a 4wd would be 3% if this correct the 235/295 shouldn't present a problem on a TT...   12. Advise? Everyone seems to prefer slightly lower tire pressures (32/40) but my personal advise is buy another set of tires for DE (r-compounds) and use your tires for everyday use or the other way round, literally destroy those tires on autocrossing and buy a good set of street tires because those you have are pretty crappy specially in the wet, more, you will feel an incredible improvement on the handling if you buy a set of PS2's or SO-2A's...
