  1. Thanks Loren. Any thoughts about buying them used with about 8000 miles on them (about 1 year old)?
  2. porsche part #'s : 996-111-984.04 and 996-111-985.04 Are these the part numbers for the latest version of the 996 sport exhaust mufflers? Thanks in advance.
  3. Ditto. If you are going to change all four, I would recommend Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 if the sizes are available. I have them on both my wife's Audi A4 and my 2002 Carrera C2. I am extremely pleased with their performance in dry and wet conditions.
  4. OK. I don't see the pics. Where should I be looking? I checked to see if you have them posted in yoiur "garage" but there is no listing under "SMR996".
  5. Oops. No photos. I'd love to see how they look. BTW what Brey Krause fire extinguisher bracket are you thinking of getting?
  6. I take it that the airbag light could be an ongoing issue each time I change the seat. :( How do you find the GT3 seat? Some people have said it isn't comfortable at all. My back isn't the best, but I would like to think (maybe wishful thinking on my part) that with the added lateral support the seat might be OK for me.
  7. I am toying with the idea of getting a Porsche OEM GT3 cup seat for autocross and track days, and keeping my regular "comfort" seat for daily driving. How long does it take to swap driver's seats, assuming the cup seat has the seat belt receptacle installed to it, so I don't have to change that every time I change seats? What other issues or problems should I account for? Thanks!
  8. A point of principle. UPS should pay for a new PSE for you. The wait of one to two weeks is worth the fact that UPS needs to be held accountable for their slppiness in the handling of their packages. As Loren has noted, the PSE is probably ok, however you have paid good money to enjoy a new product. and that it be delivered without damage. I don't know about your cost of shipping, but UPS is outrageous in its brokerage handling fees when shipping to Canada. I have never had issue with paying for value, but there have been times when the packages have arrived in a condition that suggests the package was used as US. Army target practice.
  9. I have the 5 mm on all four corners on MY02 C2 narrow body. The wheels are the 18 inch turbo twist and I have +1 sized the tires to Michelin PS2s with 235/40 and 295/30 front and rear respectively. Wheels now fill the wheel wells better and the car has a marginally wider stance. Whether it makes a difference in handling is hard to say, but I like the spacers none the less. I do think the 17mm spacers would not work for my car though.
  10. There is no specific paint code but the closest I have found to match the "aluminum look" interior parts is arctic silver. The downside to painting is that the parts should be primed and painted, then clear coated. A lot of work and lot that can go wrong. BTW, have you considered polishing the rings with very fine steel wool (ie: 0000) to give it a closer finish? I did it this way and found it to look quite good.
  11. All paint colours fade (and oxidize) over time, especially those with a high pigment content (such as red). A good painter can match the colour by custom-mixing the paint and account for this fading. I just went through this myself when I had the GT3 front bumper and rear spoiler installed. The paint shop had to do the job twice because the first time they worked with the factory colour and it didn't match the car. The second time they custom-mixed the paint and nailed the colour perfectly.
  12. I just tried as per your recommendation, adjusting the two screws under the plastic liner. I loosened them and then pulled the bumper out a little, then retightened them. I has made a difference in the look by evening out the gap between the trunk lid and the bumper (less variation from the centre point to each side. Looks alot better now, but I am goiing to have the dealership finish the fine tuning as that's what they have been paid for. Thanks again!
  13. Is that to suggest that the bumper top/front may tightened down too far? If so it should be relatively easy for the bumper to be loosened back a bit (?).
  14. I would like to know if there are any adjustment points to fine tune the fit. I don't want to pay twice to have them do the same thing :o
  15. Several weeks ago I purchased from Suncoast Porsche the aerokit front bumper and rear spoiler. I have now had them painted and installed, however I am having a problem on the fit of the front bumper. The car is a 2002 Carrera Coupe C2 in arctic silver. The parts I ordered (and received) are the aerokit Cup II which were designed to fit on my car. All parts were new and came primed with all hardware required to install these parts. These parts were installed by my local Porsche dealership. The technician has over 35 years experience servicing Porsches and has installed several of these aerokits. He was as perplexed as I was as to the fit. The bumper does not line up properly with the hood such that the gap between the two increases from centre point to each side. It also appears that the hood sits up and over the bumper from a front view (almost like an overbite). I have attached several photos to show what I am referring to. Given that the parts are OEM, new (never installed), the car has NEVER been in an accident to cause this misalignment, the installation was done by a factory-trained technician at a Porsche dealership, I am stumped as to how to fix this fitment issue. Does anyone have any prior experience with this problem and if so, what remedies can be taken to fit the bumper properly? I appreciate anyone's feedback and help on this. :(
  16. Consult a lawyer who specializes in traffic violations (DWI, etc.). It could possibly be challenged as you may have been in full control of the vehicle and the sound of a revving engine (did I note that you have the FabSpeed exhaust?) is not grounds for reckless driving. You are innocent until proven guilty, and that includes reckless driving. My humble recommendation is to challenge it in court.
  17. I should mention that shipping via UPS was only about $154 USD for both the bumper and the rear spoiler. It was vastly cheaper than sourcing all this through a dealership in Canada, even with exhcange rate, shipping, taxes and broker fee.
  18. Actually I am in Canada as well. In Victoria, BC. I bought them through EBay/Suncoast and got them for a better price. Follow these links: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=8008218711 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-Car...itemZ8008219840 The side skirts are generally easily sourced for about $600 USD. This way you can assemble the kit piece by piece as your budget permits. Where are you located?
  19. I would try Suncoast Porsche. I just got the front bumper and rear spoiler for the GT3 (new, OEM) delivered from them with all installation hardware for a fabulous price. Check out the weekly specials or ffollow this link: http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant..._Code=POTE996EX
