  1. 4 weeks sitting? Maybe some varmints setup housekeeping in the radiator intakes.

How did you determine that the fans were working? It sounds like the low speed fan setting is not activating. Did you let the car warmup and listen for the fans to switch on? If you switch the AC on does the temp come down in traffic? AC switches the fans to high speed.

Interesting you say that because mine recently starts to creep up but only if the a/c is in the off mode but if i turn the a/c on then it brings it down. Where is the low speed fan or relay at?

  2. Live in Houston and we had extreme cold weather the night before last. Low 20's and i went out to start my car while getting dressed for work so it could run and be warmed up by the time i left but when i got there the CEL light was on. Immediately went to grab my code reader and cleared it. Since then (2 days) it has not returned and figured it might have been from the extreme cold dense air?

  3. The FVD sounds nice, how much is that one? Is that a cat back system or just mufflers?

    Hi,

After 1-month ownership of my 996 targa (2002 - without PSE) I am seriously considering changing the stock mufflers to something else. Prior to my 996 I had a Boxster S (987) and it seemed to have a much more aggressive sound than my stock 996  Basically I'm looking for the raspy and aggressive sound as the PSE - but I can't seem to figure out, what to choose without spending $ 2000 on the PSE?! :help:

Bottom-line is that I now have spent an embarrassing number of hours looking for the PERFECT muffler-system for my 996 on the web and here on Renntech. Based on my searches I think I have narrowed it down to one of the following systems:

    Dansk - super sound version

    http://www.jpgroup.dk/sstudio/?car=4&t...k&exhaust=2

    Also sold by FVD

    Or

German modified 996-mufflers (as seen on different ebay sites) Is it’s sound really as similar to the PSE-system as people are saying???

Does anyone in here has any experience on any of the above systems (maybe sound or video-files of the systems).....? According to the Dansk manufacturer, their products are sold under different names by several "Porsche tuners" - I think Agency have the same system, but I'm not sure - can anyone confirm this?

I have also been looking at the mufflers from Fabspeed but I think they will be to loud in the long run (the car is my daily driver)

All recommendations on other mufflers are welcome......! :renntech:

    Regards,

    Mads

For those 996 aficianados and iphone owners there is a cool 996 skin that i ordered for my iphone and thought some might be interested. Check it out under skinz www.myrubberz.com

Here is a shot at the entire link that will take you to the actual skin im referring to.

last cool piece i got was the battery case cause the iphone battery life is horrible!

  5. I read the FAQ and I am not seeing a TP button on my radio. I replaced my MAF sensor and unplugged the battery for about 1 minute and lost my code. The good news is that my hesitation on low speeds are gone and the CEL is still off. However, I have '99 C2 with the big navigation PCM radio and do not know how to get the serial number or model number. Is there a different method on getting the model number and serial number on this type of radio?

    :renntech:

    Thanks,

    JC

  6. A little more info since my last post.

I erased the codes, cleaned some light residue from the inside of the throttle body, inspected the intake from there outward, replaced the air filter which was pretty clean originally.

The CEL came back on in less than 50 miles with the same 2 codes, nothing more.

I'm now noticeing more than ever, that when sitting a red light idling for a short time and starting out, the car will hesitate, buck and stumble and nearly die, then run fine.

It's loading up and will happen just off idle and sometimes just below 2000 RPM. I even filled the tank with fresh gas as I was about a quatrer full. Didn't make a difference. I added some heet to the tank thinking maybe had a condensation problem and haven't tried it since.

Something is causing it to run too rich at idle or very slightly above. Any ideas on the off idle stumble?

Nick49 - Did you ever resolve this? If so, what did you find?

  7. Ask them to print out the waveform for the before cat and after cat O2 sensors - for each bank of the engine.

I do not think you have a bad cat with that fault code.

    P1123 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Lean Threshold

This means your mixture on cylinders 1, 2 and 3 is too rich and the DME can make the mixture lean enough (to meet emissions).

    Possible causes are:

    - Fuel pressure too high.

    - Fuel injector leaking.

    - EVAP canister purge valve open.

In most cases that I have seen this is a bad or stuck purge valve.

If you do not feel comfortable working on the car yourself then I suggest finding another Porsche shop and ask them for their diagnosis.

Thanks for the quick response! Couple of questions,

    1. Fuel injectors leaking i assume would be visible to the human eye if I start looking around the fuel rail?

    2. Is there a DIY pictoral view of the EVAP canister purge valve?

    3. Would something like durametric catch the fuel pressure?

    Thanks for the support.

  8. Hello to all, I am making my first post but have been reading now for a while. About three months ago I purchased a 1999 porsche 911 C2 and it ran well. Literally two days after I purchased it I got the CEL light so I ran it to a local shop where they work on Porsche and they changed the O2 sensor in bank 1 before the cat. The next day after leaving the shop the light goes off and this time the P1123 code went off so I went back to the shop and they cleared it stating it might have had some extra fuel it needed to burn since it was running rich.

The light keeps triggering after a few days and it doesnt vary from P1123 and the car has 48,900 miles on it. I have cleaned the MAF sensor as decribed on a DIY post and the only thing I have noticed while driving it this whole time is there seems to be some slight hesitation on the low speeds like if your driving in 5th gear while only going 10-17 miles an hour.

The shop stated it is a bad or clogged cat and wants to charge 1900 for parts and labor. I wanted to get some feedback from the group as we tend to have a lot of experience amongst the group.

    Thanks!

    JC :renntech:

  9. The device says as follows;

    PO139

O2 Sensor Circuit slow response bank 1 sensor 2

    Dennis

My 2000 911 check engine light came on and the diagnosis with a friend's tool pinpointed it to the left side O2 sensor after the catalytic converter with the message "Bank 1 sensor 2 slow to respond"

I am also grateful for your reply

    Dennis

How would you erase the fault like on a 1999 Carrera 2?
