  1. I don't notice it in your picture, sorry but mine came from a scan of bently pub. here is a photo I took it was dripping a small amount from both sides of the exhaust the other side that doesn't look as wet I had wiped clean earlier.
  2. Just started to drive boxster after sitting most of the winter after two diffrent drives car sat couple days and I noticed small oil leak from passenger side. At first I thought might be coolant overflow drain mixing with dirt on floor looking like oil but after getting under car I noticed it coming from a part looking like a big hexagonal nut like on this picture can someone tell me what part this is and should I be worried or just keep a watch on oil level ?
  3. I purchased my 2000 2.7 used with 225/45 17's on front on factory wheels, after a 1500 mile trip home found out this was not factory recommended tire size but still have them on now. I have no rubbing problems even at autoxing, just roadwalking on rough rutted highways, though this might be common with the recommended front tire size also I don't know. Please respond back if your tires do that now so I will know next time to go down to the 205/50 17. I went from 225/45 17 to 205/50 17 on my wife's honda and noticed a world of diffrence that was better.
  4. That looks great on a silver boxster, I would like to get some black mesh for mine, something that blends in with the car. I cleaned out mine after 40,000 miles I am not the original owner but it looked as if nobody cleaned it out before me, I even found a lottery ticket in there from the state I bought it in. This is definetley something that should be done if mesh is not installed. Looks great toddwess!! anyone have any advice on how to reduce the size of a picture in bytes to add as an attatchment to a post? thanx vfxbox for the pic help was able to figure it out in ms publishing with your advice.
  5. if a dirty throttle body was the problem it should have a rough idle each time I start the car right? (Instead of just on cold starts)
  6. Loren, I think mine is egas 2000 2.7 5speed is the instructions that much different or since it does it only on first start of the day when cold could it be something different like the engine temp sensor? would like the instructions to clean throttle body anyway, thanx
  7. forgot to mention it only does it on first cold start up of the day
  8. 2000 2.7 boxster 75% of the time I start the car after about 4-5seconds the rpms drop really low, car starts shaking like going to die if I give a little gas to keep rpms above 1000 after about 10seconds it idles out fine, was told it is not recognizing the right temp and probably needs new sensor anybody change one of these or have any other suggestions? thanx
  9. I have a 00 986 non S it sat for about 3 weeks went to start it and smoked for about 15-20 seconds (white smoke) kinda scared me then I read this http://www.986faq.com/10-0/problems.asp#013 hope it will anyone.
  10. just notice the previous owner put 225/45 17 on front instead of the factory recommended 205/50 17. The rear is 255/40 17 like it is supposed to be. Does anyone else have this size on the front? Does anyone think this might be a problem later? I notice roadwalking in rough rutted highways if my pressure is at 29 but is a little better when I put a couple pounds more air in fronts.
  11. my 2000 boxster's exhaust is having sounds come from it that sound like small pieces of metal rattling around inside, it is loud enough sounding when at idle I can even hear it when at a redlight with windows or top down with radio off, thought about taking exhaust off this weekend and turning it on its side to see if anything falls out, has anybody heard of this before, could a baffle broke inside? Any links or instructions for removing the exhaust would help. Also after the car is turned off sounds come from the exhaust area like cracking and pinging noises of it cooling down that last about 5 min. or so is this common for a boxster?
  12. how about 0w-40 or 5w-30? what do you recommend? a porsche service dept. told me they used 10w-30. any comments could help. also how possible is it my top's retaining strap is missing but I can't find any tears where it should be?
  13. Where is the best place to get a new cap a dealer? Do I have to us Porsche coolant or is there another compatible brand out there? thanx for the help toolpants!
  14. Just checked coolant level on cold engine and it is right above the minimum level mark. My cap does end in 00 would the coolant somehow come up from around the cap and down through the drain under car? The carpet in trunk is fine. I noticed the liquid in driveway when we just got back from buying the car and was looking obviously like a/c drainage because it was running for 10-11 hours with a/c on for about 4-5 hours and was a lot of liquid drainage not just a small puddle. But I put it in the garage and the next day is when I noticed the small amount of liquid on the floor next to the passenger rear tire. thanx for the reply!
  15. I just purchased a 2000 boxster with 38900 miles on saturday(3-5-05) drove it home now(3-8-05) it has over 40300 noticed leaking coming from a drain tube near passenger rear wheel told it was probably from ac drain but the liquid stays dark on garage floor or driveway when parked for a period of time and liquid also is slick feeling not just wet moisture. I also accessed the engine compartment and looked for about 15 min for the top retaining velcro strap think mine is missing any pics out there besides the ones in the manual I could use would help. I plan on a oil change in next week or two with mobil one 10-40 or 15-40 I live in southern us where car will be drove mostly in spring and summer any suggestions on any of these would help me out. :) thanx
