  1. Hi- Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the factory tips on an '02 996? I have Fabspeed mufflers and tips but would like to go back to the factory tips which of course I sold with the factory mufflers. Thanks. Would 996 111 252 55 and 996 111 251 55 work? Or 996 111 981 01 and 996 111 982 01? Or 996 111 252 59 and 996 111 251 59? These are all the numbers I can locate. What are the differences? Chuck

  3. I'm thinking about repacing the stock black belts (front and rear) in my '02 996 coupe with a set of guards red belts. Can't seem to find an instruction thread. Has anyone done it or can someone point me to a link that would be helpful so I know what I'm getting myself into? Thanks!!

  5. I have several questions within a question. Looking for an improvement in the sound of my stock exhaust setup. For purposes of this discussion, let's not talk about Fabspeed or GHL. First, will a stock GT3 exhaust setup (complete including headers, cats, mufflers, tips) bolt into a standard 996 (MY 02)? If so, is there any reason to do this? Is the GT3 setup equivalent to PSE? Rather than replace the whole stock setup, would it make sense to only replace certain parts (mufflers only?)? Concerning price, I can buy the used GT3 setup (used but mint) at a huge dicount vs. PSE for example. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.
  6. Jim- Sorry no pix but I do remember finding a link on Rennlist to the complete process w/several pictures. The grey color was very close. It's funny - when there was rust you couldn't help but notice it but now that the hats are painted they are very inconspicuous.....blend right in. I suppose if you painted them guards red, it would be a different story! :D Chuck
  7. Just did all four of mine. Had a lot of rust on the two rears but did them all to match. Sand the rotor "hats" with 100 grit sand paper and clean off the powdery residue it leaves. Mask off the drilled part of the rotors and the calipers with newspaper; I also put a small piece of tape over each of the lug bolt holes to keep paint out of the threads. Spray each hat with paint, either engine enamel or I used Rustoleum barbecue grill paint, something that will be heat resistent. I used grey which comes pretty close to the factory finish on the hats. Two coats. Looks great!
  8. When replacing the horseshoe, is it easy to disconnect switches and wiper knob? Thanks.
  9. Can you give me a rough idea what the FL company charged for the wood treatment on the center console? I'm assuming the carbon fiber treatment would be roughly the same. Thanks.
