Hi
N41EF just mentioned the Dimmer ?
My panellights are too dimm
Can this be adjusted ?
-
Not being rude
I was never talking about the box under the seat, you did not read my post properly
I clearly said the alarm in the front, under the hood, the red one with the siren
I will get a second hand one and plug it in
Thanks
-
No I am talking about the alarm box under the seat.
Well I am not, please read my post correctly
The Siren -the red one -under the front hood - sealed and certainly very dry
it goes off on its own and does not stop even with the fob pressed, I have to take it off and wrap it in a blanket until it stops
Is it plug and play to replace it
-
QUOTE
It is the alarm in the front with the siren not the box under the seat
Can I fit a replacement by just pluging it in or do I need diagnostic equipment WHICH I DO NOT HAVE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now please :-
The question is as above
If I get a second hand one is it plug and play
-
Thanks
You are talking about the red Siren in the front hood compartment aren't you ?
No I have not opened it yet but I will
If I get a second hand one does it need to be programed to the car or just fit it and work
Thanks
-
It is the alarm in the front with the siren not the box under the seat, that is ok
I have dried it out but it still goes off
Search for what ??
My question was will it re set or is it faulty
Can I fit a replacement by just pluging it in or do I need diagnostic equipment WHICH I DO NOT HAVE

1997 Boxster 2.5 Auto - right hand drive
I recently had a water leak inside the car which I have fixed
Trying to find it I played a hose onto the windscreen
The alarm got very wet
I locked the car and at 2 in the morning it kept going off
I removed it and put it in the garage
I have dried it out at home but when I fitted it today it just keeps going off
Will this re set or is it faulty
If I get another one is it 'plug and play' or do I need diagnostec equipment to re set it
Thanks Dave

This interests me too
I entered ' Approved Sumer wheels and tires' in search and came up zero
Any help please
Dave
There are several available and they are all described in a TSB called Approved Summer Wheels and Tires.
All TSBs are available here for viewing by our Contributing Members.

Not easy on a 1998, as it has mechanical throttle, not eGas. It is possible, but it is nothing like as simple as on an eGas car. It requires the mechanical actuator, a new throttle pedal, and a lot of wiring.
Thank you Richard
I won't bother, I have lived without Cruise Control all my life so why start now
Many thanks for your reply

Hi
Very interesting
I have the OBC but no Cruise Control
My turn indicator is broken so I need to get a new one
Can I buy the 4 stalk switch and add the Cruise Controll to my 1998 Boxster
How do I do it please
Dave

Hi
I have a 1998 Boxster and I need to change the indicator switch. I guess I have to remove the steering wheel. How do I do this and is the airbag a problem
Also is the indicator and wiper switch one unit
I also have the computer switch, is this seperate or part of the indicator / washer switch
I am in the UK and the car is RHD
Thanks Dave

to fix it you may need the relay kit that usually comes with the HID kit, my customer had the same problem, with radio and dash lights.
i install a relay kit to it and it works fine with no more problem. no clue why, because the ballast actually only draws 35watt..not compare to
stock 55watt.
Not sure what you mean by relay kit comes suplied - all the kits are the same. a bulb and ballast and some wires. I did try an extra device called a Canbus but that did not work either
In the end , after trying 3 kits, I found one that worked
It seems it is all in the ballast

OK finally sorted
Got another kit on UK E Bay
item no 270490919248 - VISIONDP - £72 inc uk postage - guarenteed to work - all works fine
E Bay shop - VD lighting and performance - visiondp@live.com
6000k bulbs
Sent all the other kits and bits back for refund

I have genuine Litronic headlights which of course are on the dip beam
I fitted these myself so they dont rise up on main beam
I have fitted HID kits to the main beam
But it took 3 sets of kits to get a kit which did not screw up the milometer and clock
UK e bay VISIONDP item 270490919248
E bay shop VD lighting and performance
Good luck
Dave
PS Mine are 6000k - best light and white

Hi
I fitted an HID kit and had all sorts of problems. The mileage went to zero and the clock went to 12 o clock every time I used the lights
First I tried a Canbus killer, that did not work
Then I got new Ballasts from another supplier, that did not work
I got refunds on all the bad bits
Finaly I got another kit which was guaranteed to work for the Boxster - and it did
I am in the UK so UK E Bay - Seller VISIONDP - item no 270490919248 - cost £72 with posage
E Bay Shop is VD lighting and performance
Good luck
Dave

Well the new ballasts arived and fitted
Same problem
I give up

UPDATE
A company is selling me 2 new Ballasts for £50 from a complete kit designed for the Boxster 96 - 04
Apparently they have a chip inside which fools the computer into 'seeing' Hallogen bulbs
Lets see if this works
I will keep you posted

I thought that would only work with post '03 cars with far more fancy electronics?
Hi
I spoke to them on the phone and gave them the year of the car and they say it will work
I will let you know if it works when I fit them
Dave
No they did not work
When I fitted the Kanbuss Killer the headlights stopped working completely
Removed and all working but still have the fault
The guy is going to try to help me after Christmas

Sounds faulty to me Dave - I have an '01 and have just done the same. If I'm super-critical, I get added interference on FM when on, but that's it.
Cheers
Hi
I have been investigating this and apparently it is common
Depends on something in the ballast
There is a 'warning eliminator' on the market for about £12 I will try
Thanks
Dave

It sounds like a voltage spike. Is everything properly grounded and the ballast isolated?
Hi James
Thanks for reply. I have fitted it exactly as per instructions
It does not mention earthing the Ballast
This is just fixed behind the headlight but on plastic?

Horrible Gas milage

Hi
I have exactly the same problem
I get no more then 20 mpg driving carefully
This has been going on over 5 months
I had rough running, changed the MAF sensor which cured the rough running, then someone sugested it may be faulty so I changed it again
Then it failed an emmisions test so I changed the Lambda Sensors. It passed.
I have had it read by a Porsche agent and there are no codes
I am at a loss as to what to do next
Dave
