  1. I would like to remove some fluid from the brake fluid reservoir before I spread the brake calipers for pad replacement. There is a second cap inside the reservoir with multiple holes in it. Could someone advise what is the proper procedure for removing this cap? Mine doesn't want to come off. Thanks
  2. Could anybody recommend an A/C shop in Houston for work on my 996? Thanks
  3. A few days ago I wrote about foam coming out from the A/C ducts of my 996. Another member referred me to a write-up done by rsfeller on this subject. I followed the provided links, but I was not able to find the write-up. Could anybody let me know where I can find this write-up? Thanks
  4. I have noticed that foam debris are coming out of the dashboard slot vents near the windshield. I checked the cabin filter and it appear to be normal. Does anybody know where these debris come from? Thanks
  5. Hello, Do you mean the oil filter cover removal tool? If so, VERY gently tap with a rubber mallot (preferably tap on the wrench attached to it), it will drop or free from the filter housing. It came off. Many thanks for the suggestion!
  6. I am having trouble in removing the Porsche tool that is used to untighten/tighten the box that contains the oil filter. Any suggestion about how to take it off? Thanks
  7. 996_front_bottom___right_side.pdf I am looking for a schematic, drawing or photo that shows where the ends of the air duct need to be attached to the bottom of my 2000 996. The air duct (right P/N 996 504 604) is shown in the picture on page 3 of the attached file. The pictures on pages 1 and 2 of the same file show the bottom of my car in the area where the air duct is supposed to be installed. The lip in front of the wheel is missing. I cannot use the left side of the car as a reference, because the left air duct is also missing. Thanks for the help.
  8. I will use 8" tall ramps for changing the oil in my 3.4 liter 996. Since the car will not be level, it will not be possible to drain all the oil. When I put the new oil in, again I will not be able to gauge the oil level with the dipstick for the same reason. I am concerned about overfilling and I am also concerned about not putting enough oil in, since I will need to start the engine to get the car off the ramps. Does any reader have any information on the undrained quantity of oil, when using ramps for an oil change, or, in other words, how much oil should I put in the engine before I drive off the ramps instead of the normal 8-3/4, 9 quarts used for car level oil change? Many thanks
  9. I have trouble filling completely the fuel tank of my 2000 996 (the last 2-3 gallons) and, when I do manage to fill the tank completely, there is smell of fuel inside the car. Are these problems related? Any suggestions about how to fix them? Thanks
