OK, after re-adjusting the timing, and adjusting the CO level, the car is now running like a champ!!! Thanks to all for your help!! -

It starts quick, and idles smooth. slower reving... I'm about ready to drop a 350 in her. -

The engine will not rev to redline under load. I checked the timing, it is dead on. When I checked the spark plugs though, I noticed that cylinders 2 and 3 had oil fouled plugs so I'm thinking I either have a problem with the head gasket, or a problem with the rings. Any other input? -

Thanks for the help!! I'm not looking to be a speed demon, I just can't get the car over 55 mph. Where we live, there is a huge hill called freezeout hill ans I can't get the car over 35mph. -
Ok, i have a '77 924. After about a year of tinkering and tuning, I finally got the car running. I took it for a drive and the engine runs strong... It just doesn't seem to have any power. I'm thinking that I need to adjust the timing. Any ideas!?!?

I don't believe it does. It has the plastic staple sort of horseshoe affair. not barrel shaped like my old VW Still, you should check all of the fuses, on the older porsches they use a fuse for the left lights and one for the right. I had the same problem on my '77 924. As soon as I replaced the fuse and cleaned up the fuse panel I haven't had a problem since. Good Luck!!

Hi, about three months ago I bought a '77 924 for $300.00. I'm having a few problems with the electrical system and the engine. First the electrics... After playing with some grounds I finally got the RH lights to work front and back. I tore the headlight motor apart and fixed the "not going down" problem, but I still don't have low beams, (I think it might be a relay). Both the front and rear wipers don't work, the turn signals don't work, nor does the flashers. Any input? As for the engine, I'm having a backfire in the intake (I'm thinking a timing issue). I completely tore apart the fuel distrubtor and got it working but it's leaking. That's all I've found for now. Any input and or sources for parts would be great. This is my first Porsche, and even though it doesn't run, I still sit in it and feel like a Million Bucks!!!! I don't even feel that way in my BMW! Thanks!! David expensive_habit P.S. The "PORCHE" panel that lights up on the back is a little warped. Anyone have a lead on a new one?
