  1. Hello everyone. Once in a while when I come to traffic lights my car seems to "load-up" with fuel, The longer the light, the shakier it gets. Light turns green, it stumbles until you "clear out" excess fuel. And when you get on it a little, there is a strong smell of rich fuel, and smoke out of the exhaust. When its running perfect there is never any smoke out the exhaust. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... Rick EDIT: Sorry wrong forum... 928!!!
  2. Jim thanks so much for the info. The car has no-loss in power and runs great except for a low-idle when hot. Thanks again... Rick
  3. My car keeps coming up with code 1539 "99" 996. I did buy a scanner and have cleared it a few times to see if it continues, and it does. Is it a big job to replace the cam adjuster? any chance in "upsetting" something else? Thanks much... Rick
  4. Paul, I bought my 99 this past March. 43K, I did purchase the extended waranty from Western General. It cost me $3,600 for 3 yrs or 36 k. So far I have used it once for a dealer replacement mass air flow. I have a $100 deductable and Westen paid the difference, no questions asked. Good luck ! Rick
  5. Thanks so much for the info. Im learning that the BEST THING about my "82" 928 is NO CEL!
  6. Loren. thanks for the response. The tech said that the new code 1539 did not show up the day before. When it failed inspection it showed mass air flow only??? Thanks for any help... Rick
  7. Yesterday, my dealer replaced the Air Mass Sensor because of "CEL", on the way home the CEL came back on. Today I brought it back to the dealer now he says it showed code 1539 "the Camshaft Adjustment Bank 2" He telling me about $1,000 to fix, Any ideas would be appreciated... Thanks Rick
  8. CEL came on just after purchase in Fla. Drove home to Boston area and made appointment at Porsche Dealer. They replaced Air Mass Sensor $433.38 Labor was $156.00. Now Im thinking that Im "all set". Half way home (some 15 miles) CEL back on. I called the dealer and will bring it back tomorrow. Any thoughts on what else it could be?? Oh yeah The GOOD news 45,000 and the RMS is dry as a bone!!! Rick
