  1. I don't believe this is actually the tires that you all are experiecing - it's Cosmoline, a preservative that Porsche sprays all over the motor. See this thread from yesterday. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/997/193...bber-smell.html
  2. I don't think the OP is talking about drag racing or surely he wouldn't shift to second gear at 20 MPH. I think he's just saying that when he's driving normally he finds that other cars are outpacing him. The simple solution is to shift a bit later and get on the throttle more. If you have sport chrono, hit the sport button to sharpen the throttle response. Even if you don't have it, the bottom line is that you're still getting back in the saddle of driving stick. Be patient and give yourself some time. Reasons to want the tiptronic exist, but I think once you get more comfortable with the stick you'll see why it's so popular.
  3. They don't like rock, but I thought they liked techno music, which has loads of bass. There's no excuse to be found here - it was a mistake to partner with Bose. I think their stuff is junk, and it is only those consumers that buy into their marketing and don't know any better that perceive it as a high quality brand. Everything they make is just injection molded plastic.
  4. If it sounds worse than your stock '99 did, something is wrong. I have the Bose upgraded sound, and it is absolutely nothing special. It's definitely not the best stock stereo I've heard (that title belongs to the Logic7 stereo in my last BMW, which came standard!), but certainly not the worst.
