  1. I bought my 996 with a short shifter installed. (possibly a B+M in lightblue aluminium?) I am not sure but I think I am having a problem with it, it feels all very nice from 2-6 gear but I have an awfull sound in first gear and it feels/sounds like first gear is not fully engaging. could that be?? and in that case deos anybody have a suggestion on how to fix it? thanks and regards
  2. Hmm..I have the exact same car with the exact same problem so there should be somebody out there who knows how to fix this. anybody got any ideas here what could br wrong.
  3. Hmmm interesting!! shift linkage is realy intresting because it almost feels like that too, also the previous owner installed a shortshift which could ad to the problem. anyway thanks for your advice and I will start with changing the tranny fluid and check for chunks of metall.
  4. Hi, I have an unfriendly scraping/scratching kind of noise in first gear on my 996 carrera from 2001. It gets lauder the more I exellerate but I can´t hear anything in the other gears. right now I try not to use 1. gear at all, thank god we have enough power so starting in 2. is not a problem right now but this is very worrying though and I wonder if anybody else has had the same problem and what the sollution is. For now I am atleast thinking of changing the tranny oil to redline shock prove oil. also maybe the oil level is low? would there be an engine check light if the tranny oil was low? I will have to check the level but in the case of low tranny oil level the noise would be in all 6 gears or am I wrong?
