  1. Your best bet would be to get a door from a wrecker, albeit the paint may not exactly match. The correct procedure would be to blend the front fender and quarter panel, then clearcoat the fender, door and quarter panel. This will ensure an almost perferect match to the eye.You are talking thousands of dollars if you get a new door, and blend the paint. I am guessing $3-5K. I have painted many arctic silver Porsche panels, and it is a difficult paint to match. I suggest using PPG water base coat, and PPG Omni clearcoat urethane with hardner. L92U is water based, and L92T is solvent base. You might get lucky with a used replacement door. I often see arctic silver doors on eBay for $330-$500. You could try dC Automotive http://dcauto.gotdns.com/?p=2, as they have one of the largest Porsche wrecking yards in the world.
  2. Some aftermarket taco wings will work, but factory OEM won't work b/c the top won't clear the wing when it retracts.
  3. Suncoast Porsche has a Triguard Indoor Car Cover - 996 for $99.
  4. The spoiler and skirts are Porsche OEM, and I believe that they are polyurethane. The only OEM spoiler that will fit your cab. is the one that I have. It's called Carrera rear spoiler P/N 000 044 802 04. The spoiler comes with a front lip that mounts under the front bumper. I see the OEM spoiler time-to-time on eBay ($2K-3K). A new spoiler would be out of the question, as the retail cost is about $7K. If you go with aftermarket, you have more options in terms of style, i.e. GT3, taco, or other. You will pay between $1500-$2000 for a quality wing. You can purchase the OEM side skirts from Sunset Porsche for $678. I have seen them used on eBay for $400-$600, but my feeling is that it's better to buy new b/c you will have all the mounting hardware and body tape to mount.
  5. Here are some pictures of my car with the Aerokit spoiler and side skirts. I painted the parts myself with PPG water base (base paint) and PPG urethane clear coat with hardner. It cost me $200 for paint and materials. Most of the body shops wanted $2K to paint. I used a HVLP gun. Total cost for this mod: Aerokit spoiler $925 (got $575 credit for damaged deck) Aerokit side skirts $678 Paint & supplies $200 Labor FREE TOTAL $ 1,803
  6. The taco wing will not work b/c the cab top will not clear the spoiler when retracting. I have a factory cabroliet OEM spoiler on my 2003, and the top barley clears the spoiler (10 mm) when it's retracted. I wanted to add a GT3 wing, but that won't work either. There are non-OEM taco and GT3 wings that have been modified to work with the cab.
  7. The second strut (left side), is only used for the Turbo and C4S. The factory only installed the right side on non-Turbo and C4S cars.
  8. The Aero Spoiler will mount to your existing deck lid without any modifications. You just have to remove the existing retactable spoiler, and install the Aero Spoiler with the appropriate wiring harness to deactivate the spoiler light on the instrument panel.
  9. I purchased the side skirts new from Sunset Porsche for $678. Purchased the spoiler used $1500 from dC Automotive, http://dcauto.gotdns.com/?p=2. I am painting the skirts next week, and I will post some pictures.

  11. I figured it out, and mounted the Aero II spoiler to existing deck lid. I had thought that the deck lid with the Aero II spoiler might be fiberglass, but it's just the regular metal lid. The new Aero II spoiler lists for over $7K, now...what a joke! So when you order a Aero II spoiler here is what you get in the kit: Part Number Qty. 12. Can the engine decals under the engine be purchased at dealer? These are the Mobil 1, radiator cap warning, engine info and so on? Thanks!
  13. I bought a used aero kit 2 spoiler for MY2003 cabroliet. The deck lid has some damage on the bottom edge, and I was wondering if it is possible to install only the wing portion onto my existing deck lid? The wing is bolted onto the deck lid that I purchased, and it looks like I may be able to remove it and install it on my deck lid. Of course I would have to remove the retractable wing, first. Is this possible? I thought that aero kit deck lid was made of fiberglass or plastic, but it appears to be metal...I think. The wing is non metal. Thanks!
  14. Could somebody please send me a OBD 2 diagram, or point me to one? I purchased a used Durametric cable, and I can only read the DME and alarm modules. The other modules like the cluster, airbag, ABS are not recongized by the software. It looks like only the K line on pin 7 is working. Pin 7 is K line, this is the bidirectional serial port to the Motronic engine control unit and Alarm. Pin 3 is K' line, (K-"marked") this is the bidirectional serial port to the CCU, SRS, (airbag) ABS control units. Does anbody know if pins 3 and 7 on the cable connector should be shorted together to read all the modules? I know on my BMW that the two K lines have to be shorted together to read all the modules. Thanks!
  15. Loren, The P/N for the unit that is installed in my car is :996.645.140.01. The 2005 Porsche Cayenne S P/N is 996.645.140.02. What's the difference? Thanks, Mike
  16. I have a 2003 996 cab with the MOST system, non Bose radio, amp, speakers, etc.. I need to replace my 6 CD changer. Will a CDC-4 from a 2005 Cayenne S with a BOSE Speaker System work to replace my changer? The P/N for the CDC-4 from the Cayenne S is 996.645.140.02. Thanks!
  17. My 6 CD changer is having problems reading the CD disc, so it looks like I will need to replace it. Would another CDC-4 changer just be a swap, or will some programing be required with a PST2? Thanks!
  18. Mike, Just another bit of info...You should be able to get another warranty that covers you for another 4 or 5 years (or even longer) for about $2100. Well worth it in my opinion (considering a water pump will set you back about $850.) Just a thought.. Phillipj Thanks Phillip, Do you have any recommendations on where to purchase a extended warranty? Thanks, Mike
  19. I have a 2003 C2 cab. that is going out of warranty on 11/30. I only have 11K mi. on the clock. What are the common issues that I should have my car checked for before my warranty expires? I had my car in the shop this week and the tech discovered a slight leak in the RMS, which was replaced under warranty. Is there anything else I should have my car checked for? Should I consider a extended warranty? I plan on keeping my car. Many thanks! Mike
  20. Loren, How would you check a RMS for seepage without pulling the tranny? I had no visual indication of a leak, but some how the dealer said that I had seepage. Is there a way to inspect the seal without removing the tranny? Thanks!
