  1. Can anyone tell me how to remove the OBD II port from the mount under the dash of my car? Is the OBD port separate from the mounting bracket or is it all one piece? I am thinking about installing a discrete GPS tracking anti-theft device, and the manufacturer offers an OBD II pass through cable as an option for wiring the unit. The idea is to: 1) Unmount the existing OBD II port from the under-dash mount. 2) Plug the pass-thru cable into the now un-mounted OBD port, stuffing the cables up under the dash out of the way. 3) Remount the new OBD II port end of the pass-thru cable to the existing mount under the dash. 4) The pass-thru cable has a takeoff to provide power to the GPS unit and to permit remote door unlock etc. Thanks David
  2. Hello All I am the new(ish) owner of an ’08 RS (2063) bought in September from Porsche of Colorado Springs. I rapidly went from from looking at a 996 GT3, to a 997 GT3 (got within $2000 of an agreement with Porsche of Nashua, NH before they got someone willing to pay more than I was prepared to – for which I am now very thankful!), to the 997 RS. Somehow I doubled the amount I was prepared to spend in the space of a few weeks – hey you only live once right? I figured I could afford it now and maybe would never be able to again so pulled the trigger. The car was delivered to me in mid September with 850 miles on the clock, to which I added around 300 before putting away for the winter. It is unmodified. I did stealth install a Valentine 1 using a combination of instructions from: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/997-...-with-pics.html and http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/997-996/27...-smartcord.html (I was a little nervous pulling apart my expensive new toy but the instructions were perfect and it was relatively easy – thank you to both the posters of the above links). I love the car! Years ago I nearly bought an orange 3.0 RS replica built on a 1974 Euro Carrera 2.7 (with the 210hp engine) and always slightly regretted not buying it (no regrets any more though). I also used to own an ’88 911 Club Sport with very low miles that is one of the few cars I regret selling. The brakes and steering on this car are unbelievable. Due to the low miles I have not extended the motor yet but even so it is a dream to drive and I have not regretted the purchase for a second. I am looking forward to the first track session, but I am sure that the cars abilities are way above mine, so if you see an orange RS circulating slowly at a track in the northeast that will probably be me! Somehow my wife and niece (who was staying with us at the time of purchase) named her M1randa and it stuck (pronounced M-1-randa by the way – don’t ask – I have no idea). Any advice and/or suggestions regarding anything I should do or lookout for would be gratefully received. I am a little concerned about the RMS issues and the cost of replacing the brakes when the time comes, but I am committed at this point I guess, and see no sign of oil yet! Thanks Dave
