  1. I have installed the fourth stalk on my 2003 Boxster and wired it as follows: Stalk Pin 1 _ Ground Stalk Pin 2 _ Cluster Pin 23 Stalk Pin 3 _ Cluster Pin 22 Stalk Pin 4 _ Cluster Pin 21 Stalk Pin 5 _ Cluster Pin 24 Connected the Durametric tool with the latest Ver 6 Update (6.0.3.1) I turned on OBC with the Durametric Tool. A few problems were encountered: The stalk does nothing ( Tested the swich using an ohmmeter and checked OK and the ground connection is OK) The fuel low level light is on and I have almost a full tank of gas I have two Fault codes from the instrument cluster: P0071: Porsche fault code 76 - Ambient Temperature (via CAN from instrument cluster) P1601: Porsche fault code 660 - CAN timeout - instrument cluster Any ideas would be most welcome.
  2. Did you ever get the match up of thecolor of the stalk wires to the pin numbers on the connector? I have a fourth stalk without a connector, just the wires and need the information to use the switch. Thanks for any assistance.
  3. I have not had any success using the Durametric in turning on OBC and I thought you had some information I was unaware of. I have version 6 with the version six cable. I read what the poster said about OBC & cruise, my cruise works fine and would like to get OBC working using the Durmetric tool. Have you used the Durametric tool to turn the OBC on or off?
  4. Where are you getting your information? According to the Durametric web site: By popular demand, the Enthusiast kits support enabling the OBC which, technically, is a Coding option.
  5. How is access gained to the top of the license plate lamp holder? A previous owner glued the holder in place and the base which has the nuts for the holder is back on the wiring harness. I found it by looking through the hole behind the license plate mount. It looks like the spoiler will need to be removed to get behind the lamp holder. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  6. Is the stabilizer and anti roll bar the same thing? I changed the links and mounting bushings on the stabilizer bar and that did not help.
  7. The engine was running for both and I sent the same information to Durametric and have not heard back from them for over a week. That was my reason fro trying here to see if anyone had the similar issues. Thanks for the information. Here it is the first of July and I still have the problem and no answers from Durametric.
  8. I have a 2003 Boxster with a tiptronic transmission. I am using Beta Durametric 6.0 with the Enthusiast Version of the adapter. When I connect the tool the first screen shows the tiptronic transmission and I select it. It shows two versions of the DSC/ABS and I select the 5.7 version. It shows two Instrument clusters and I select the K21. When I attempt to enable the on board computer I receive a message that says "Could not log on to the instrument cluster" Also I had the ABS and PSM lights come on and had an error code of 4440 and the message Steering angle sensor. I tried the ABS/PSM 5.7 commands, calibrate steering angle sensor. I get a window that pops up saying to move the steering wheel 20 degrees left and right. When I select yes I get a message in the lower left corner of the screen; unknown operation type. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  9. Does anyone know the torque value for the rear sway bar drop links or where I might find them?I have a 2003 Boxster
  10. Is there a way to search for a phrase or string of words? I am looking for Steering angle sensor and I get all sorts of sensors and have to read through them all to find the one I am interested in. I have tried enclosing the word in quotes and that did not help. I am using Linux and Firefox as my browser. Any help/advice would be appreciated. I looked for a general forum to post this question and could not find one so my apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for this post.
  11. Thanks for the information. I asked about the hardrace arms and nobody has reported any problems with the arms. I am looking at the more vibration being transmitted and am looking at either replacing or rebuilding the control arms. I need to get some time to look into which is the better option.
  12. Everything was torqued to factory specs, which is 118 ft lbs. All of the lubrications are current. I haven't heard any complaints from others that have installed the replacement arms of them causing noise problems.
  13. They are Anti-Dust Pillow Ball Bushings. The particulars are at:http://www.hardrace.com/precise.asp#2 Hope that helps.
  14. I have a 2003 Boxster with 55K miles and had a clunking sound from the right rear area of the car. The clunk only occurred at low speeds over bumps in the road. I replaced the Rear Upper Control Arms (Track Arms) with the adjustable type control arms and the clunk has been replaced with a noise much louder than the clunk and almost a rattle and it comes from the back of the car. I cannot pin it down to left or right. When either tire strikes a bump the noise occurs. It happens with the top up or down, with everything removed from the rear compartment, all of the panels, padding, etc. I cannot get any noise by pushing down on the bumper. I jacked up the car and all of the panels are secure. Shaking the wheels gets the same silent treatment. There is a marked stiffness in the ride with the new arms. My wife noticed it and she also noted the new louder rattle/clunk sound. Said something about she thought the ride was a nice improvement but for $250 the noise would have been eliminated. Any ideas of where to go from here would be appreciated.
  15. I have a 2003 Boxster and have a broken trunk entrapment cable. While looking for the problem I found there are three (3) cables connected to the release mechanism. 1 is the normal electrical solenoid activated cable, the second is the broken entrampent release cable and then there is the third cable. It goes from the release mechanism to a hole in the floor on the drivers side of the rear compartment and from there I have no idea. I found nothing in the owners manual and am thinking it may be like the emergency release for the front lid in case of a battery failure. Whatever it is for won't work as the cable is slack and I don't think is connected at the end outside of the luggage area. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  16. I have a 2003 Boxster with cruise control and would like to add the fourth stock and turn on the OBC. I am also thinking the Durametric tool would be a good investment. I sent the Durametric folks a note asking about turning on the OBC and they say with version 6 beta test release, they offer the ability to turn on the OBC. They also said successful activation requires the OBC supporting hardware. If your car is ready for the OBC, it is likely the Durametric Enthusiast or Professional kit, using version 6, can turn it on. I asked about the supporting hardware and the answer was it is the "stalk and potentially other components." Is there anything else required, besides the stalk and associated parts from from Jeff at Sunset, time, patience and rentech to get the OBC working on my 2003 Boxster?
  17. I have the same problem and taping with a mallet proves the arms are the culprit. I find there are OEM arms for $240/pair incl shipping and for $260/pair incl shipping I can get adjustable arms. Is there any reason for going with the adjustable arms? The arms and prices I mentioned are on ebay.
  18. I pried, pulled, bent and twisted and it will not come free. I think there is a clip or something on the bottom edge as it is secure. Rather than chance breaking it I wrapped the wire I was attempting to remove around a dowel and with some brute force was able to remove the wire from inside windshield pillar. Thanks for help. I saw a used end cap for sale on ebay so I sent a note asking about its removal. Seems the back side fits over the air duct tube and it is usually a very tight fit.
  19. Thanks for the picture. I took a quick run out to the garage and gave a healthy tug and it did not move. I have some other work to finish so it will be few days before I can get back to cleaning up the wiring mess. I will try prying around the edges with a putty knife. I shall let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the help! Just a tight fit! Some tugging and pulling did the trick. Thanks for the help.
  20. I am removing a previous owners installation of a cell phone and need to get behind the panel with the side vent at the passenger end of the dash board. I have removed the two screws on the door side and the one behind the interior temperature sensor grill. It's loose but there is a something else holding it and rather that hearing one of those irreversible snaps I thought I would ask for some assistance. Any help would be appreciated.
  21. The light dimmer control on the left side of the tachometer was stuck. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  22. I had my 2003 986 stored for 45 days. When I returned the battery was dead. A check of the 4 year old battery indicated a new battery was a good idea. I replaced the battery and now when I turn off the ignition all of the instrument panel lights remain on. Before the car was stored I had no problems. I have to remove the fuse to get them to go off and if I replace the fuse they all come back on. I would try and do some troubleshooting of the problem except I cannot find a wiring diagram for a 2003 986. Anyone know of a source of wiring diagrams? I tried the Bently manual and it does not cover the 2003. Any help would be appreciated.
  23. Based on the replies I shall invest in the Bentley Manual. Thanks for the help.
