  1. Drive it and enjoy it!! (and don't baby it.) There are a lot of DIY's here for the 996 that are the same as the 997. Brakes are super easy. Filters easy.. Serpentine belt easy... Exhaust mods easy..

Change your oil at least every 5k miles. Your car has such low miles see if you can get and extended warranty from Porsche. The 05's are prone to engine problems but your engine could last forever..

Do a search here for lots of great DIY's. Also there is a maintenance checklist uner "DIY Menu" at the top of the page.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new toy!

    Thanks for the advise Phillipi

Also nice to see that I'm not the only F1 follower in Cal

My wife and I also enjoy Motorcycle Road Racing.

    Long live the TT.

  2. Good Morning All

Just recently purchased my dream car from a private party,05 Carrera Coupe 02/05.

Car has 16,000mls.My last Porsche was a 1984 Carrera Coupe.Boy what a difference.

I'm mechanically inclinded, having to work on English cars, growing up in the uk.

I would like to do my own work ie servicing etc.

Unfortunatly I here alot about this year,I.M.S failure and so.I've been advised that at some

time I will need to replace the engine, arround 30k miles or so?

Is there anyone out there that has high mieage with no problems.Or should I not worry and

enjoy the car,I would like to give it some welli [stick] once in a while.

Would very much appreciate some feedback.

    David
