  1. I found the answer in the manual. I didn't have access to it last night. It is the power steering resevior and the manual lists the type of fluid needed. Sorry for the un-needed post.
  2. What kind of oil goes in the reservoir labeled "Hydraulic Oil Only" on the top of the engine. I have 06 C2 with tiptronic. I pulled the dipstick out and no oil was on it. Should there be oil shown at least a little even when the engine is completely cold? Thanks.
  3. I've done a search but didn't find anything about replacing the belt. I've got a 06 C2 and was trying to figure out which pully is the tensioner. Non of them look as though they would move enough to get the belt off. Any help would be appreciated. Picture would be great. Thanks.
  4. 2006 C2, I recall when I first got it and the year and a half since, the tip trans would always start in 2nd from a stop. Now it seems to start from 1st. Specifically when I shift out of park. Is this normal and have I just not noticed it before? Or should it always start from 2nd? Does having the A/C turned off/on have anything to do with it. I've driven it through summer and winter temperatures and I've never noticed it until recently so I would say trans oil temperature wouldn't be a factor. It shifts fine up and down and the lever is not difficult to move, but for everyday driving I would prefer it starting in 2nd. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone else have a suggestion with this? I too have wondered how to set the volume of the PCM on start-up. To me, the volume is too loud when I start the car, I always have to turn it down. I really don't want to have to remember to turn the PCM off before I take the key out each time.
  6. so how do you get a fob you bought on ebay to unlock your doors and trunk?
  7. I did a search and couldn't find any info on what type of coolant to use on a 06' 997 3.6. I know Porsche coolant is crazy $$$. The level in my car is right at min so I just need to top it off. Is there a Prestone or other name brand that is capatible with what came in the car? Is the orange prestone DEX-COOL good to use? Thanks for any info.
  8. Thanks, I'll check that. This noise persists even when the car isn't moving. Do you think a loose swaybar would make noise due to engine vibration?
  9. I have a very loud rattle around the back window area. I have tried to isolate it with the speakers out while someone else drove, but with no joy. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have good pictures on how to take the interior trim apart in back. I know how to take the speakers out, after that I'm at a loss. Thanks.
  10. As of December I'm a new Porsche owner. I bought a 2006 that was Porsche Certified which gave me 2 years or 50k miles. I went ahead and got another year through Easy Care (done throught the dealer). I was told Zurich backs Easy Care so it sounds like a solid company. Though it might cost more money then as opposed to now, I can extend the easy care policy beyond 3 years if I do it before the 3 years is up.
  11. I can easly find 5W-30 full synthetic but not 5W-40. Is there much difference between the two or am I good to go with 5W-30?
  12. Thanks for all the replys. I found a 2006 with 10,000 miles in my price range. Build date was 3/06. It also came Porsche Certified. So far I feel good about the purchase, but I've hardly been able to drive it, the weather around here has been crap.
  13. I'm looking to buy a used 997 and am trying dot all my i's and cross my tees so to speak, do the radios have CD players that read MP3? Do the radios have an aux input or USB input? Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the replys. Is the IMS failures across all engines or just one in particular?
  15. I'm looking into getting a 2005 low mile 911 (around 20k). Some of the posts on the forum say to steer clear of 2005 because of inherent problems. Are 2005 997s something to stay away from? Would a good low mileage 2004 996 be better or a higher mileage 2006 (I like the looks of the 997 better than 996)? Also, what are the warranties that come with the cars and has anyone got an extended warranty? Was the extended through Porsche or independent company? Thanks for any help
