  1. Just got off the Phone ... Ordered THANKS AGAIN. Those numbers really helped.

I would think you can order the euro license plate holder directly form Porsche. I'd say visit or go on-line to a Porsche parts department.

The part number appears to be 997 701 109 00.

    Mount to bumper facia screws (2) are 999 919 227 A2 while the license place mounting screws (2) are 999 919 228 A2.

    GL

ps. I was at the Porsche Museum late March on the way w/ my son to pick up his new M3 at BMW Welt (Munich). We visited Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW. I't was a 'bucket list' trip for me.

  2. BIG THANKS!!!! I really like the look of the euro-plates.

Would love to see some of your pics.

Here are a few from my trip. Got to rent a 997S for 5 days..

  3. Well I have a dilema here.

I am all set to Flash my 997-1S using the Softronic Software seen here:

    Softronic

    Then I find this:

    FVD

Looks like the same thing, but with a different logo, who actually made the software and where do I go to get it done.

I would rather deal with who actually wrote the flash software, seems AS important as the files that are being downloaded in case something goes wrong with my 70K+ investment.

    Thoughts???

  4. Yep that's the one did find a post on removing it. But I am wondering on a 997 if you remove the Radio do you need codes to put it back in.

I want to paint the silver center PCM console's faceplate to match my car's exterior color flat black. The soft paint is all worn out and white is showing through.

Pulling the PCM is easy but feel like an idiot for not knowing how to remove the actual faceplate PLEASE HELP!!

  5. 2006 997-1 S

    50k Miles

    6 Speed

Hey again guys. I have been kinda tapped lately so instead of dishing out 1200 for a pair of Pilot Sports for the REAR SET.

I went with a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE 960AS Pole Position 295/30-19 nice tires and they feel AWESOME at 0-80. The thing is when I am turning at around 75 - 80.

I have a sway steering feeling. Have I really screwed up by not getting ALL 4 Matching tires? I was under the assumption that as long as the L-R REAR match and L-R FRONT match.

Is this an issue or do I just need to get use to my new tires.

Just wondering if there is a HAZARD in doing this.

    To be clear:

I have a MATCHING SET Pilot Sports FRONT

I have a MATCHING SET Bridgestone Potenza REAR

    :drive:

    Thanks Again,

    Stephen

  6. RennTech Gurus :notworthy:

    I have an:

    2006 997.1 S

    Coupe

    Manual

    40K Miles

I would love to do this, if it exist, anyone know if this option is really available or better yet had it done on an older 997.

"Porsche will offer the system as a dealer-installed option that can be retrofitted to older versions of the car."

    Thanks

  7. I bought an OBDII reader a while back for my 07 Passat and would like to use it on my:

    997-1 S '06

    6 Speed Manual

    44K Miles

Would like to use it to read System Fault Visit Workshop Errors. I ALWAYS liked that with my VW, so when I brought to the dealer

I would have the error codes printed out felt like I had the upper hand (until they gave me the bill that is :-| )

Could someone point me to a trusted OBDII software that will work on my PC AND\OR an affordable hardware\software kit?

    Thanks in Advance,

    :renntech:

  8. Thanks for the info.

Was driving home and while coasting in 3rd felt sort of what I would describe as a shutter it continued for about 2 minutes, almost as if pushing the clutch pedal then releasing quickly, more of a transmission stop and go feel than lack of fuel. Also it is an 06 with 44k does the warranty go by the exact calendar year or sale date.

Any ideas :lightbulb: or similar experiences before I hit the Dealer?

    Thanks in Advance:

Sale date if the car was new when Purchased. Take it to the dealer if you are still under warranty

  10. Great info and :thankyou:

Not sure if this helps, but the owner's manual seems to indicate some normal consumption is expected and varies based on conditions (including your driving style and oil used).

I realize your car isn't brand new, but here is some verbiage from the manual that would appear that you are OK.

Engine oil and fuel consumption During the break-in period oil and fuel consumption may be higher than normal.

As always, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of oil, the speed at which the engine is operated, the climate and road conditions, as well as the amount of dilution and

oxidation of the lubricant. Make a habit of checking engine oil with every refueling, add if necessary.

Engine oil consumption up to 1.5 liters/1000 km

    (1.6 quarts/622 miles)

    Engine oil consumption

It is normal for your engine to consume oil. The

rate of oil consumption depends on the quality

and viscosity of oil, the speed at which the engine

is operated, the climate, road conditions as well

as the amount of dilution and oxidation of the

    lubricant.

If the vehicle is used for repeated short trips, and

consumes a normal amount of oil, the engine oil

measurement may not show any drop in the oil

level at all, even after 600 miles (1,000 km) or

more. This is because the oil is gradually becoming

diluted with fuel or moisture, making it appear

that the oil level has not changed. The diluting

ingredients evaporate out when the vehicle is

driven at high speeds, as on an expressway,

making it then appear that oil is excessively

consumed after driving at high speeds.

If the conditions you drive your vehicle in are dusty,

humid, or hot, the frequency of the oil change

    intervals should be greater.

If the vehicle is driven at a high rate of speed,

climatic conditions are warm, and the load is

high, the oil should be checked more frequently,

as driving conditions will determine the rate of oil

    consumption.

It would seem that you are fine. Depending on conditions of inner parts, it is possible that some wear could be causing increased consumption, but you seem to be in normal range here based on the

    limited information.

    Hope that helps.

    DC

  11. I did a lot of mods to my first 996. Headers, mufflers, flash, Plenum and it definetly made the car more fun to drive.

Now that I have a 997 I swore I would not mod it... B) I've already replaced the headers with he X-51's. Now because I can't leave well enough alone I'm thinking about ECU flash and cats. WTF? Why? Is it really going to make that big of a difference? And then I also void my warranty???

The issue I have with the flash of the software is that the rev limit is changed from 7k to 7500. That engine was never supposed to run at 7500 rpm and that's why Porsche made it 7000 (at least so it would be dependable.)

I guess if you don''t care about the longevity of your engine it's a good mod. But if you have that much money to burn why not just get a Turbo and have endless hp possibilities? Used 01 Turbos can be had in the high $30's now....

I've had a NA engine let go and it's a major PIA and in the wallet.

I plan to keep my car for two years and then get a GT3 or a Turbo. Will I have enough power then.?? I freakin hope so.....

Just my rant for the day...

    :renntech:

    LMFAO!!

The fella who works on my car also works on lots of HIGH END stuff. One day while dropping my 997S off for an oil change, he drove me to work in a GT2 WOW!! I will never be the same again. I wonder if folks who own GT2s say "If it were a just little faster" like us 997 S guys.

Anyway thanks for all the feedback. I think I am going to leave well enough alone, stop tweaking and start my Turbo or GT2 savings account.

    GREAT FORUM BTW!!

    :thankyou:
