  1. I have two keys for my 2002 Boxster S. One original which came with the car, one a recent replacement. When I use the original key after my wife has used our car and changed the seat settings, when I unlock the car with"my" key, the seat automatically resumes the position of the seat to memory position 1, my setting. However having set the seat position to my wife's settings on memory position 2, whilst it works ok pressing the mem2 button, there is no way that I have been able to make the position change automatically by simply unlocking the door with the replacement (her) key. It locks and unlocks the car and of course starts it up but try as I may, following religiously the instructions in the handbook, I can not get the seat to automatically revert to her position by using the key. I read somewhere that when coding a new key there are 15 steps to doing this and that the problem may lie in one of these steps which enable the seat memory to interface with the key. Does anyone out there know the answer or heard of the is issue before?
  2. Occasionally, whilst manoeuvring my 02 Boxster s Tiptronic - usually whilst parking or driving slowly with the foot off the throttle and on full lock I get a really horrible "low frequency rubbing, grating squealing sound" coming from the front near side in the area of the disk. It is clearly wheel rotation associated, I can find no play or movement on any of the suspension points whether loaded or unloaded. I replaced the front disks and pads less than 5k miles ago. I also notice an amount of vibration/play when slowing from high speed which I associated with wheel imbalance. I have since had all four wheels balanced but still have the vibration coming up through the steering column on heavy braking. Any ideas welcome?
  3. I have an 02 Boxster S. When I purchased the car three years ago, one fob worked the other didn't. I replaced the one that didn't and it works fine. The one that did work has become unreliable and only works intermittently. I have discovered that when I replace the battery in the fob, it works perfectly and from a good range but the performance tails off over a couple of days. It is as though there is a current drain taking place within the pcb of the fob itself. For when I put another new battery in the fob, the same cycle happens again. Secondly I am able to program the memory of the electric seats to the key that doesn't work very well but not to the new one. I have tried all the usual recommendations like putting the key in the ignition, turning it on and pressing the remote button etc. Doing the same in the door lock as well but I have a feeling that it is the fob itself that is shot and I have to position myself over the barrel for another shafting from my dealer!
