  1. I'm a new '04 Cayenne S owner; I believe I have the exact problem. When the engine is cold, it is more severe; it happened to me a couple of times when I sit at an intersection waiting for the traffic light to turn green, when it turned green, I stepped on the accelerator, the car moved enough so that it's right in the middle of the road then the car paused [stopped]. I think at that time it's searching for the right gear then suddenly it switched to first gear and jerk real hard then it moved on.

So now when I first drive the car, I use manual mode until the car really warmed up…

I'm still looking for an answer. If anyone has any suggessions, please advice.

    Thank you in advance.

I have a similar issue with my 04. It does not seem as severe as yours, but when it is cold it always goes in to D1 and shifts hard if you don't shift manually. Recently i have noticed a very slight grind fromD1 to D2, only when cold. I am trying to research a local shop that can do a fluid change and perhaps a trans service - afraid the dealer will screw me! I also have a differential whine when cold. I'm guessing its ready for fluid changes?

  2. My 2004 S behaves similarly to your description occasionally. It almost reminds me of driving a car with a manual transmission and coasting at low rpm in one of the higher gears. I get a slight shudder and once I accelerate, its fine. I chalked it up to the German engineering interpretation of the automatic transmission? Good Luck.

    Hi Renntech'ers

Long time member, relative few posts, just gotta use the search tool and voila! Here's something I haven't seen discussed:

My new to me 2008 Cayenne Turbo has what I consider to be very weird behavior from the drivetrain. When under light throttle input and accelerating up a hill, the driveline shudders, almost like the motor is lugging. If you give it more gas, and the vehicle downshifts, it goes away.

I took it to my trusty dealer (I do actually trust these guys), and they told me they all do that...even the new Panamera's do it. It's really a 1000-2000 rpm phenomenon while cruising, but seems like it could be fixed with different software or perhaps different motor-mounts? I thought maybe by keeping it in Sport mode (which is vastly more fun) that it would keep it from doing it, but alas, it does not.

I posted this on Rennlist, and heard from another 'lister that he had the same issue and it's not fixable. Any thoughts from the smart guys here?
