  1. Thanks guys, ive booked the car into a Porsche registered bodyshop and will let you know the outcome. On the initial viewing by the bodyshop, they did say that there was also "micro-blistering" on the bootlid...... a common known issue with Guards Red cars.......let you know more about that also when they have more time to investigate and report. Cheers everyone Bibz
  2. Hi, please could someone offer some advice on an issue I am having with my 1999 Boxster? I have some marks on various parts of the bodywork and am unsure what they are! Porsche body repair shop say they are stone chips but they don't look like stone chips to me, rather more like some form of delamination. Ive attached some pics which come from bonnet, boot lid, petrol cap and rear wing. When I bought the car new in 1999 the dealer sold to me a Supagard bodywork protection cover, some form of paint sealant. Maybe this is what is coming away or this is something more serious? Any suggestions most welcome. regards Bibz
  3. Hi, sorry for delay in posting. Fitted new servo with the new adaption kit and all has been well since. The adaption kit fits quite easily and does improve some areas but does not address the original issue of water leaking in through the servo bolts as it doesn't cover these, water could still filter through and rust up the servos internal parts. All the kit basically does is form a gaiter tunnel which covers the whole of the connection rod area from the inner bulkhead to the outer bulkhead. This will stop the adjustment nut seizing, a problem I had with my unit, so would make adjustment easier. Is the kit worth the money? IMO not really as it duplicates parts you already have on your car and also parts that come with the new booster unit anyway. Lessons learned from the experience? Check your drain holes regularly, especially if you park under or near to trees with falling leaves. Where and how this is done can be found in your vehicle docs or via a search on this forum. If you park on a hill for long periods of time, park facing uphill! Happy motoring :D Bibz
  4. Hi, Quick update on my booster problem. Couldn't unstick the connecting piece (adjuster nut) from the threaded booster unit so had to take out the whole lot... :( what a pain. Even with it all out and on the bench I still couldnt separate the parts even using heat!!!! In the end Ive decided to change booster for a new one (prob best all round anyway) and at the same time use new connection parts also. Only thing is on contacting Main Dealer (Chester) they inform me that there is also a 'fix-it' kit Porsche sells which stops this problem happening, all at a cost of £35.36 + VAT. Has anyone any knowledge of this kit and what it includes, does it have any impact on how the booster and connecting parts go back together.? Sorry but Porsche guy didn't know!!! Bit miffed with dealer because my car has full service and repair history with them, they even check the drain holes on servicing, but at no time have they mentioned an adaption to stop servo failure.......but its a safety feature, they are after all brakes and quite inportant for stopping the vehicle!!! Regards Bibz
  5. Many thanx Colm, i'll keep on with the WD40 and then have another go later on, let you know how I get on. Regards Bibz
  6. Hi CarMan356, great write up and pics which are really helping me out with my sticking brake pedal. 1 question though, "Loosen the lock nut (red arrow) and then loosen the connecting piece (blue arrow). Continue to loosen the connecting piece until they separate." Ive loosened the lock nut but am unsure of the next bit, how does the connecting piece come loose, do i loosen clockwise or anti clockwise? My thoughts are that the centre thread should stay fixed and the blue arrow bit turns anti clockwise (looking from the windscreen forwards) until it releases but when I do this the thread turns with Blue arrow bit, maybe this is seized on? or am I totally getting this wrong? Many thanks for a great assist. Regards Bibz
  7. Cheers for your help, i found the right section and the info I need to address the problem. As you say appears to be quite a well known problem. pkbibby
  8. I have a 2000 2.5 boxtsre and when operating the soft top loering switch only one side operates. I believe that one of the operating systems on 1 side must be faulty so need to investigate and replace or repair. I want to do this for myself but need some advice. Can anyone help? I have searched the forums for assistance in solving my soft top problem, but can't find anything. Many thanks pkbibby Boxster 2000 year .25 engine, manual gearbox, 39,000 miles, sports design interior, RHD, United Kingdom.
