Thanks, I'll give that a try.
There shouldn't be any creaking sounds coming from the shifter.
Something is rubbing. Probably a cable.
Adjust the cables so there is no slack.
You can then, if needed, after adjusting the cables, adjust the neutral position of the shifter.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedroo
I just installed the B&M short shifter in my 2001 Boxster S, and I love the feel. I do have a few questions:
- There is a creaking sound that seems to be conning from the area where the shifter cables attach to the shifter. Is this normal? Should I lube the connection?
- Before installing the cables to the shifter, I marker them for easy installation. After installing the short shifter, I still have some slack in the cables. If I tighten up the cables and remove the slack will it affect the shifting? Right now it shifts just fine, but I would like a little less play in the shifter.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll go with the factory fluid.

I'm not sure about the 2008 gearbox. I thinking of using Amzoil Severe Gear 75W-90.

The key is that the rear wheels are free of pressure, other wise the rear sub frame will deform too much and than it become difficult to reinstall the plate.
Thanks,
Do you think jack stands would be the way to go?
-
The best way to install is with the wheels off the ground, car on jack stands or lift. It's not so difficult but i do not know your options.
I was thinking of using ramps and lifting the back of the car. I have heard that the frame or suspension may twist a little after the removal of the reinforcement plate making it quit diffcult to re-install.

I have a concern. I'm thinking of changing my gear oil in my 2001 Boxster S a 6 speed manual transmission. I have read that some people are having problems re-installing the reinforcement plate after removal. Is this a project I should attempt myself or take it to the dealer?
Thanks,
Mike

Maybe a silly question. Do you have the factory kevlar spoiler and lid that are covering the original spoiler, or you have the wing attached too the original lid? In the first case the original spoiler it's removed and deactivated so you cannot see it. The factory Kevlar lid it's longer covering the original spoiler spot.
Sergiu
The wing is attached too the original lid. The original spoiler is still in place. I believe the factory option Front & Rear Spoilers Aerokit is installed on my car.
Mike
Thanks for the help.

real possibility
You could check if the manual raising switch works, it is in the foot well on the wheel arch side
Thanks,
I tried the manual switch with no luck. The fuse seems to be ok as well. I understand that there are some relays in the trunk; however, I didn't want to start unplugging things if there wasn't any real problem.

Help,
I just purchesed a 2001 Boxster S with the Front & Rear Spoilers Aerokit and I noticed that the movable rear spoiler does not function. Before I start poking around where I shouldent poke around I thought I would ask someone, with far more knowledge then myself, if this is normal. My thoughts are that the automatic rear spoiler was dismantled after the areokit was installed.
Thanks,
Mike

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find out how many Boxsters were painted in each color?
Thanks
