  1. I replaced a bent convertible top pushrod, and one broken cap. Fix lasted app. 3 months, and then broke the same - side ball joint cap again. What gives ? I am sure this is not normal. I was carful to pre mark the cap placement on both sides, and top worked well for a while. What did I overlook ? All input appreciated Patrick
  2. Thinking about an after market exhaust for 2006 Boxster S. Any info as to the pros and cons, and also, which is the better system, dollar for dollar. appreciate all input, Patrick
  3. Help Wanted. 2006 Boxster S, GPS, Bose, all Factory equipment. Got in the car, turned key and sound was REAL loud. Immediately turned volume down, now all I get is a muted bass sound. Prior to turning key, I had unlatched my top to lower it. I tried all controls on the unit, but was unable to get any sound out of it, other than the muted sounds. Any ideas? Maybe a blown fuse ? Anything appreciated. Thanks, Patrick
  4. Well, got all my parts, thanks Maurice for the Netherlands tip. Had to by another pushrod, as one was bent. Once I got started, took about 40 minutes to complete the project. Made sure both assembled rods were the same length, (I used liquid whiteout to mark bolt position as well as the neoprene cap position on the all-thread). I placed the clamshell at it's highest point, and then snapped the rods onto the ball joints. I then manually articulated the top until I could reattach the nut that bolts on the rod, (loosely). After propping up the back of the top, (under the rear window), I was able to move the top slightly until the bolt corresponded with the whiteouted area. I then tightened both bolts. The top worked flawlessly. Thanks for all the help. This was the first time I have worked on my own Porsche since my 1976 914 2.0, which I worked on constantly. Time for a beer !

  6. Thanks for the help Maurice.:notworthy: Patrick (tomie)
  7. Thank you Maurice. I will order the caps ASAP. I look forward to working on my own car for once. Also, I can manually operate the top very easily with 2 fingers, so I don't think there is anything going on with the top. I will check the drain pan again as you suggest. Should the caps be lubricated in any way on installation ?
  8. Thanks for the reply, and you are right, BOTH pushrods are broken. I heard a loud pop about 6 weeks ago on the right side, and did not know what it was. When the left side went, the top would not actuate. I looked on several forums and think I will attempt the fix myself. There is no damage to the drainage pan. I lowered the top and removed the broken cap pieces only, leaving the rods in place to measure. Now, I need to know if anyone can point me to where I can get the pushrods for a 2006, or the email address of the fellow in the Netherlands to get the caps. All help is VERY much appreciated
  9. I have a 2006 Boxster S, I was opening my top, and I heard a "pop". The rear decklid was up, but the top would not move. Any ideas as to what has happened ?
  10. I have recently purchased an '06 Boxster S. I have been reading about IMS failures and was wondering if it was corrected in the '06 year model.
  11. No smoke. Oil was changed at 10500 miles, car has 12900 on it, when I run the oil check thru the computer, it is at the second line from the top. Not really sure what that means. Going to get it serviced and looked over for leaks. Maybe just my imagination. Thanx
  12. I have just purchsed an 06 Boxster S with 13000 miles on it, one owner. The previous owner drove the caenr pretty hard, but had it serviced at 10,000 miles. When I park the car, I can detect an odor of oil. Is there an area where the engine is prone to leak, or is this normal ?
