  1. Thanks TP..... unfortunately the link doesn't work for me. I'm not bothered about the 986 but wanted to know what parts are common between the 997 and 987.
  2. Searched but no joy..... What parts does the 987 share with the 997? I'm fairly sure the doors, bonnet and brakes are the same as well as some of the interior (are the seats the same?) but wondered if anyone knows what else?
  3. No just travelling...... I work near Heathrow in the same office as PaulB
  4. Well I've now got 2500 miles under my belt in my 987S and feel I can now offer some opinions on PASM. While getting used to the car I didn't really experiment with PASM for the first 500 miles so the car remained in normal mode for all but a few seconds....... normal mode offers good body control in nearly all conditions and the slightly softer damper set up soaks up the worst bumps you're likely to encounter in the UK without upsetting the car balance. Basically I'm happy with normal mode for day to day commuting as it gives the perfect balance for comfort without compromising the cars sharp handling. From 500 miles onwards I started to play with PASM sport mode...... initially I found I'd turn it on and almost immediately turn it off again as the extra firm set up is much harder than normal....... however I forced myself to spend time in sport mode and found I soon got used to it........ in fact I often forgot I was in sport mode and had to glance at the button to see if it was on or off! Sport mode makes a marked difference to the handling of the car...... cornering is much sharper and grip levels transform from great to amazing!!!! In some of my favourite test corners at speeds where the car would start to drift wide in normal mode the same speeds in sport holds the line much better. Body roll in sport mode is virtually zero and the nose hardly dips when braking hard...... I could be wrong but I'm 95% sure that braking is also better in sport mode....... when braking very hard in the dry ABS is usually fairly obvious in normal mode (in the last few feet) but when in sport mode ABS hardly ever seems to cut in. Sport mode is fine for all but the worst roads IMHO and I now have it turned on most of the time....... normal mode only gets used in very bumpy conditions or when the wife is in the passenger seat but even then she doesn't complain at the ride when we go for a spirited drive (sport mode is always on then)..... maybe because shes too busy screaming! :D Anyone that doesn't mind a firm set-up in exchange for enhanced handling will love PASM sport mode and don't fall for the magazine reviews that say sport mode is best left for track days. What do other PASM users think? My next mission is to start experimenting with Sport Chrono......
  5. Howdy partner  I was actually in Houston yesterday at a Porsche dealership....... I've never seen so many yellow and white Boxsters in one place!
  6. This is a sad request but I'd love to know the weight impact of the various optional extras in the 987. Eg. do the 19" wheels weigh much more than the 18"s? Does PASM weigh more or less than a standard set-up? Do the adaptive sports seats weigh more than the standard ones with all the electric motors...... Etc, etc, etc...... If you go for a fully loaded car are you adding much to the overall weight or is it only a tiny bit extra?
  7. I've searched without any luck...... is the air filter in the 987 the same as in the 986? i.e. when my car arrives in two weeks will I be able to remove the foam from the filter to improve the sound or is the 987 already louder because Porsche changed the filter? Porsche claimed some of the improved power in the 987 to be the result of changes to the air intake...... but they didn't go into much detail in the info I've seen!
