  1. I'm getting very good service @ MVS Motors Ltd. though they have not done anything major to my 996 yet. Worth trying them out. They are at Markham and Steeles area. (No relations to them but for my minor visits, very receptive to my questions and very helpful.)
  2. No one knows? It's the two things/plastic poles that stops the glove box from opening all the way and hitting your legs. Any suggestions what they are called? Thanks
  3. has not set their status

  4. I'm using 94 in Canada as well. Though I'm thinking whether or not 91 is adequate. Since only driving occasionally, I guess the 94 additional cost is minimal.
  5. On my 2003 c4 Cab, I am finding the elastic ties that connect the canvas top to the frame is starting to tear(?). Would just a tape work to help it to prevent more tearing? What kind of tape would you suggest?
  6. I vote for stock. I have a 2003 C4 Cab with a silver/titanium Carrera4 is this stock? I believe this is but want to confirm
  7. Anyone know the part number of the two plastic posts with rubber washers inside the glove compartment is? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the prompt response. The services were performed at a Porsche dealer in the US (Oklahoma), both times by the same dealer. From the service reports, the first time was because of oil leak and the second time, can't tell as there was a complaint of oil leak but the main one was clutch shudders and the result was clutch pressure plate warped and disc worn out. Was the RMS changed just for convenience? The vendor has a PPI by a Porsche dealer done when importing and appears fine. In my other post, I asked about the Engine Revolutions Range Report. It appears the car was initially sold Dec 2002 with the first RMS Feb 2005 (approx 7100mile in 2 years, 2 mths), and the second service RMS/clutch Sep/08 (approx 15,000 miles in next 3.5 yrs). Will little use cause the seals to leak? Only concern with if it's the actual engine itself that will make it leak. Thanks again
  9. Hi all, Looking seriously at a 2003 996 C4 with around 28,000 miles ( 44,000kms), but the service records show RMS replaced @ 7,200 miles then replaced RMS, clutch and pressure plate again at 22,000 miles. I've been reading the RMS problems here and would like your opinion as to if this car qualifies as a chronic leaker (and I should walk away) or normal. Thanks
  10. Ok, here goes....The DME records and keeps a record of the times your engine has hit the rev limiter, as well as at what hour of operation the "over-rev" occurred. On the 996 there are two ranges, 1 &2. Range 1 records the number of ignitions at the rev limiter, in this case a total of 2234 ignitions, the last one happening at 926.4 hours of operation (I would guess somewhere around 32000 miles). It also shows 1 ignition at range 2 at 152.5 hours of operation or perhaps 5000 miles. You arrive at these Guestimates by multiplying hours of operation by an average 35mph. Anyhow, were not done with the fancy math just yet. Now these are the actual number of ignitions recorded by the engine, so if at 7200 rmps the engine is firing 21,600 ignitions per minute or 360 ignitions per second, that means the engine spent about 6 and 1/2 seconds at the rev limiter. How many occasions this represents is a real guess, but more than one and less than six? Totally confused yet? what you really want to know is that it's no big deal. Now the single over rev in range two is supposed to be a bad thing, I think in this case it is an anomaly, and since it occurred so long ago, it doesn't matter. By the way, that printout should give you the total hours of operation...if you multiply that number by 30 to 35 it should give you the approximate mileage on the car. Just a way to check on the actual mileage. Well that's really more than you want to know, if the car is otherwise good, go for it....B) Thanks for a very clear explanation! So it's not really an important number. The Car Proof report shows no discrepancy but the car only has around 27,000 miles. From the rough calculations, this means the car was used in much slower speeds and not much highway driving. Is this a right assumption? Possible would be additional clutch wear? Which I would not have any idea, but the report did state stiff clutch which the vender said was "corrected".
  11. Hi, I hope to be a owner of a 2003 996 C4 Cab and have a copy of the Porsche Report from the vendor when he purchased it last year. Can anyone explain what the Engine Revolutions Range Report is? I have Ignition Hours Range Number 1 2334 926.4 Range Number 2 1 152.5 Are these good numbers? What do they mean? Thanks
