  1. @orient xpress I'm an fng on 996 DIY - or any auto DIY for that matter. I'm using renntech as my bible though and plan to do the 45K minor myself. Currently working on replacing my headlight switch. (bi-x lights not working) As for the solid motor mounts, what is NVH? Is it bad for the car? I plan on doing some autocross and maybe some time trials - should I switch to solid motor mounts? thanks, pete (2002 996 C2 Tip) I'll also be cleaning the radiators thanks to the bumper removal video on renntech)
  2. Thanks. Will do. Hope the new switch solves the light issue.....
  3. I've already taken the switch out. should i go out now and disconnect the battery positive first then negative and wait to hook it back up once the new switch arrives/is installed? (sorry i'm not very mechanical - just trying to learn.) thanks, pete
  4. Am I supposed to disconnect the battery before removing and installing the new switch?
  5. UPDATE: I did manage to get it out by following some boxster instructions I found. Now for 'switch replacement' do I need to replace the metal and red plastic cylindrical part, or the black round part with the 'circuit board' on the back that has the switch position 'labels' on it? thanks, pete dealer said they'll have a switch tomorrow - hopefully that will solve the issue!! fingers crossed.
  6. Hi, I did an exhaustive search of renntech but couldn't find an article on how to replace the headlight switch. Here's the whole story: My litronic headllights won't turn on. The fog lights and all other lights work except the tiny bulb right next to the litronic bulb in the passenger side. I disconnected the battery, checked all the fuses, took out both lights and it does not appear that any are burned out. So someone on another forum mentioned it might be the switch (claimed it was common) I'm going to pick one up, but trying to get the old one out, I couldn't do it and I don't want to break anything. Also, the highbeams work too, but only if you press the lever forward, the won't stay on if you pull it back. I got stuck going to work the other day in the dark trying to drive with only the fog lights. So, any help/advice appreciated. thanks, Pete
  7. I've had a semi-daily driver 88 targa for five years now. Bought with 80K now has 104K. Had the brakes and rotors changed, oil changed, and changed the trans fluid myself. If it has a pretty good maintenance history, I wouldn't hesitate to get one as a daily driver. Good Luck.
