  1. Okay, got an update. Plugged in the PIWIS and low and behold, it shows the o2 sensor as ready. Further digging shows that the "VarioCam PLUS" status as a "sad face" I also see a fault in memory, P2271, "o2 sensor signal biased/stuck rich, bank 1 sensor 2 (Limit exceeded)" Any ideas here? Thx
  2. Hmm, how do I check if there's an intermittent fault? I don't see any codes that are stored (using a iCarSoft device). And when I look at each of the o2 sensors individually, they're all showing "pass" and within the range.
  3. @Loren Any other suggestions besides driving it? I've put 1k miles on it, and still can't get the o2 to be ready. I called the dealer and they want $500 to get it ready -- seems a bit excessive. My understanding is they can run some sort of short test to get it ready (but I may be wrong here.)
  4. I'm trying to smog my '14 991, but I have one sensor that is not in the ready yet, the o2 sensor. I've driven the car over 1k miles now, and have tried the various drive cycles that are out there (anyone realize how dangerous it is to drive 54mph on the freeway!? this is at the butt crack of dawn too!) A local p-car enthusiast has indicated I could utilize his PIWIS to help with this issue. Does anyone know what screen I need to get into force a 'short test' that I've seen mentioned on the interwebs? Thx!
  5. Loren, Your info and assistance has been most helpful! You mention the third mark is for the "tolerence group (loud group)" to help determine which compensation part is needed and mentione that ther are two colors, white and green. Both mine (orange) and the other pictures I've seen online (blue) do not match the white/green you mention. Do you know what orange, blue or any other color besides white/green mean? Or did porsche just decided to add more colors without really publishing/talking about it?Thanks!
  6. I have an '04 40th AE. So it's a manual, 3.6L w/ the x51 and 2wd. So the strut was superseded a couple of times. It went from 06 to 20 to 40. Interesting. The 3rd color (aka compensation part (spacer) code for the size, can you elaborate on this more? So if I was to order a new spacer, I would have to tell the parts person what color is on my spring in addition the part number for the spacer? Thx!
  7. I just picked up a new old stock x74 suspension. I trying to verify what I have based on some part numbers and pictures I've found online thru various forums. In the attached photo (I can't attach a photo!), you'll notice that the color dots on the springs are purple/white and orange for both the front and rear springs. In 2 other pictures I was able to track down online of the x74, my rear matched what the other 2 pictures showed, purple/white and orange. The front however, was purple/orange and blue instead. Do I have the wrong setup? What do the color codes signify, or rather, how can we interpret the colors? Also, according to this p/n list it's x74. HOwever one of my struts is 996-343-980-20. When I look that p/n up, it shows as a superceded number to 996-343-980-06. 8. Hi everyone! Possibly a new Porsche owner here. I'm looking at a '97 Boxster. It has a blown motor and the owner wants to sell the car vs. fixing it. So i've been shopping around for a motor, and let me tell you, they are EXPENSIVE. I owned an E30-M3, and I thought parts for that thing was expensive. No wonder the guy wants to sell the car vs. fixing it. Anyhow, I've sourced a 2.5L engine from a '99 Boxster. The problem is I don't know if it's a sleeved motor or not. Based on reading a lot of the Porsche forums, they said the early MY99s had the problems. Is there a way to tell with the engine serial number if it's sleeved or not? The wreckingyard says it's from an 'early 99' which has me worried. I maybe buying another timebomb. With that being said, the motor has about 45k miles on it. I plan on doing driver's school in the car as well. So the car will be driven somewhat aggressively. :drive: Any comments or input would be appreciated. Thanks!
