  1. Aren't P0133 and P1275 the same error code but for each bank, implying the same error from both sides? If so will swapping help? Is it likely they could all be bad at once or maybe another cause such as the MAF? Chris, trying not to be too dangerous with very little knowledge! :)
  2. Having read the posts about the P1128, P1130 generally being an issue with the MAF we have a slight variation on this and would value some input. As well as these two codes we also have P1123 and P1125, essentially the same but for a lean condition. Is this indicative of something significantly different? It seems likely that the MAF should be blamed but any comments or input would be appreciated. Are there any other readings we should look in to that would help the diagnosis? Any comments much appreciated! Oh one more thing, is it wise to swap MAF Sensors between cars to see if the error codes go with the one thought to be bad? I'm not convinced of this plan as my car is the one with no error codes :o) Chris.
  3. Loren, is there a manual or guide somewhere that covers these things? Any directions on getting access to such a thing? I'm particularly intrested in how to enable OBC on an 03S, I have read lots of guides but there is this cryptic reference to entering some secret code on newer cards that I can't find much detail on. Any help much appreciated. Chris.
  4. When you add a changer I assume the MOST configuration has to be updated so that the car/head unit allows it to work. So, if Becker made an Aux adapter for the CDR230 wouldn't it be fair to assume all you'd need is access to a PST2 to enable it and make it work? I think I'll mail Becker. Last time I talked to them they just said it couldn't be done as Porsche had made it impossible, it seemed they were implying it could be done uner other circumstances, maybe enabling through the PST2 was what they were referring to? Chris.
  5. Do you happen to know if you can enable OBC on an 03S with the laptop PST2? We got errors saying some search had to be completed first. Chris.
  6. Sorry for any confusion, I'm a Brit but I live in the US, in Massachusetts. Can you still help me? :)
  7. I saw a PST2 close up for the first time this weekend. It does indeed run a chopped version of Windows, what is odd though is it looks to be Windows 3.1 or 3.0, it is certainly a 16 bit system. The actual software is a Bosch application, it is a simple EXE file that is loaded in place of the regular Windows shell. The interesting bit is the cable. This PST2 was a Toshiba laptop, not the (apparently) more common touch screen unit pictured above. The interface is a type 3 (double height) PCMCIA card that has had all identifying marks polished off it. The cable is covered with a braided sleeve, the PC end has an apparently specialized 14 pin sort of mini-OBD connector that mates to the card. The other end is a standard OBD2 connector for the car. The frustrating part was that it couldn't activate the OBC on my 03S. The menu structures do not precisely match what was listed on the various sites. Within the cluster section there was a similar option (Country?) but when we tried to open it the PST2 kept saying it could not do so until a scan had been completed, it wasn't clear what that scan was or how we would do it. Teh PST2 was connecting to my car ok though, I could view the mileage and other details and the CAN/MOST setup for the Bose. So, I have OBC wires but still no OBC :( looks like I need to sweet talk a dealer but I'm loathe to pay an hours labor for a two minute task. There is an independent shop not far from here who also have a PST2, might give them a try. Very interesting seeing the PST2 in person though, the menus are a little funky to navigate and some of the menu options are kind of scary when you don't know what you're doing. I had sort of hoped it would have a simple serial OBD connector hanging off the back but no such luck!
  8. I have that very same one, and a Ground Loop do-dah too. Sound levels are low though so I need to crank up the CDR23 which is ok, until I decide to put a CD in then I blow my ears out. I need to fiddle with the gain on it although I have it high, that and my line out volume. I seem to be losing some of the highs in MP3 files so I'm also re-encoding at 192kbps instead of 128 to see if that helps. Then I need to check the wiring running from the front trunk to the modulator to make sure it isn't picking up any more interference than I'm forced to deal with. A slow plod and too much time spent upside down in the footwell but I'm getting there! These links are interesting too http://www.ppbb.com/scgi-bin/boards/986/main.pl?read=1032775 I've emaile Oasis for more information on this USB/Aux adapter.
  9. Oh well, back to battling with my FM modulator! Thanks for the reply. Chris.
  10. Can anyone confirm what connections run between the CDR23 and the appropriate changer? Is the audio carried by fiber or regular RCA cables? I was wondering if installing a CD changer might allow me to do the Aux In "trick" where you allow the CDR23 to control the changer but feed the actual audio from another device. I have an 03 Boxster S with CDR23 and Bose if it is relevant. Thanks, Chris.
  11. I paid $2300 for 7 additional years 85,000 total miles on my 03S, $100 deductible. If you'd like contact details shoot me an email or PM.
  12. Because you probably need to rewire the speakers, replace the amp... the CDR230, the MOST is sometimes the least..
  13. Thank you both, so, to light up the switch I need to apply the voltage across pind 3 & 5, I tried this and confirmed it works. However, does the shared configuration with pin 4 mean that is will be impractical to use this switch for the OBC hack? I know that the OBC switch operates by grounding the connection from behind the console, but does this carry 12v? I don't really understand how or why these pins are connected in the diagram. Chris.
  14. Sounds like the spoiler light, it tests if the spoiler is operational and switches off as you start moving, at 5mph I believe.
  15. I'm experimenting with some spare switched, can anyone tell me what voltage I need to apply where to get the dash lighs to light up on a power window switch out of a 99 Boxster? The back looks like this http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/obc/spoilerswitch2.pdf if it is wired the same what would I apply where (out of the car) to get it to light up? Thanks, Chris.
  16. There is supposed to be an Ice Link solution for the MOST system this fall. Search on Ice Link and add your name to the waiting list, it is estimated to be in the $399 price range but should control your Ipod from the head unit as well as prividing Aux In.
  17. Here they seem to suggest the PST2 is (or can be) just a laptop with the appropriate software and cable. http://www.europeantransmissions.com/pst2.htm
  18. I'm in the middle of trying to move the HVAC controls from the top slot to the very bottom and had a few questions, I have been through the article on installing PCM which covers this but I had a couple more queries if that's ok. 1. Getting the wires down... is this easier after the vents have been removed? I have been trying with them in place and struggling, or is it just difficult? 2. Will the HVAC fit in the bottom slot without any filing or does it need to be "adjusted"? Mine seems very tight. 3. Will the cubby that was in the second to bottom slot fit in the top slot (beneath the vents). I plan to have from bottom to top the HVAC, CDR230, another DIN unit and a cubby hopefully. Thanks in advance for any help, car is an 03S 986 if relevant. Chris.
