  1. Thanks Cassiebox. The part came this week. It wasn't immediately obvious how to snap it on. I had to stare at it for 10 minutes and tug on some parts to figure out there was just an insert that was blocking me from snapping it on (the back double barrel part sticking out to the right on the picture above). Now I'm back up and running again.
  2. Maybe somebody has this part from a mObridge kit sitting around that they never used? I'm looking for the part referred to as "MOST loop for bypassing existing CDC," that's included in some of the mObridge shipments. Based on my searches it sounds like I just need this part (or one like it) to reconnect my MOST ring. I had some spare time this weekend and decided to free up a bit of frunk space that was being wasted by a non-functioning (and no longer missed) CDC-4 multi-disk player. I got the the player out and pulled out the connectors - only to get the dreaded PCM: "SYSTEM ERROR! Amplifier, CD Changer not available" message. After a pulling the PCM fuses and seeing that a "re-discovery" wasn't going to clear things up I did a search and found this thread: <<http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/porsche-cayenne-forum/405546-system-error.html>> It sounds like my MOST was set up as a ring going through the CDC-4 (oh joy). It also sounds like what's "needed [is] to link the two fibres together to complete the loop. One was supplied with your mobridge unit. Whoever installed it did not know what they were doing. Call Scott at mObridge and ask his advice. Its an easy fix if you can find the part. it looks link a plastic ring with a connector at its root." Unfortunately, I didn't buy a mObridge (although I am considering it for fathers' day). Does anybody know the part # that I can order from Suncoast or pick up from my local P-dealer, or do I need to go 3rd party like mObridge? Does anyone have one sitting around that I can talk them out of or buy? Thanks in advance! DenVerSlube 2006 C4
  3. All, My 2006 C4 Coupe (still just under 20k miles) got rear-ended by an idiot while she was either texting or cutting into the turn lane I was sitting in. I was stopped at a red light at 6:45 am - so it wasn't a DUI. The impact was probably at about 15 mph from a low (chevy malibu?) bumper, so most of the damage was in the body work and the exhaust. Of the 32 items that need to be replaced, the Adjuster's estimate (extractions pasted below) has all OEM new parts - including a new muffler, exhaust pipe and Cat. My question is whether or not it's worth trying to go from the OEM exhaust system to an aftermarket system. I'd love to get a throatier exhaust note, but I'm not necessarily big on that kind of thing. After doing a first pass google search and listening to some exhaust youtube posts, I went to the borla.com site and plugged in my vehicle. It didn't look like my setup (3.6, awd) was supported by any of their OTS offerings. Has anyone done an aftermarket exhaust on a 997-1 C4? Is it even worth messing with the OEM perfection on something like this? I really don't want to go more than $500 over the OEM parts, so obviously a PSE is out of the question. I'm assuming the $2.2k cat is necessary to stay in line with Colorado emissions testing, but I'd be interested to hear lessons learned there too. On a separate side note - should I be at all worried about pervasive twist or anything else put into the unibody or the engine frame? I can post additional photos, including underbody shots, if anyone thinks there's a possible concern I should be on top of. TIA! OP GDE MC DESCRIPTION MFR.PART NO. 4. Thanks for the quick replies, the info and the link! The battery thread was great reading. (Now I just need to figure out the search utility to understand why that thread didn't pop up for me.)
  5. All, This is my first post on Renntech so be gentle. I've lurked here in the past but wasn't an owner until today (having owned BMWs and Audis, I knew I'd come here eventually). Today I bought a '96 C4 from an Infinity Dealer here in Denver CO (previously owned by a female doctor who couldn't stand how hard it was to get the new baby in and out of the rear seat installed baby seat). It's got 16k miles and is in beautiful shape. The only (real) comment the independent shop that did my PPI made was that the brand new battery the Infinity dealer put in seemed to be the wrong rating. When I asked the Infinity dealer about it, they claimed they got it from Prestige Porsche here in town, and that it should be right. Just looking at it - it definitely looks after market to me. It's labelled as "Dynacell", "Exact-fit Battery", DY4891, CA 32 degF 875, and CCA 0 degF 700. Looking up a fit at BatteriesPlus.com it looks like maybe it really should be 740 CCA rated. The PPI mechanic is gone for the day, so I'm not sure what they had looked up. (I tried a search here, but I'll admit I haven't done any here before and might have missed the obvious.) Please let me know ASAP if you think this isn't going to work as is - since the seller conceded that if they screwed up they'd replace the battery. Thanks in advance!
