  1. Thanks, oh well MAShaw does now offer a fully functional TT type lid for narrow body. I had found a used TT lid on Ebay for cheap but turns out it was too good to be true.. Guy had salvaged the top wing, light and probably motor for his new Gemballa wing, but was advertising it as a complete wing! Jim
  2. :unsure: Is it possible to fit a factory turbo spoiler/decklid MY01 to a MY01 carrera C4? Does the turbo tail have a boot for intake like stock C4? Any wiring or any other special things have to be done? I want to do add a raised spoiler but nothing to0 wild..the Turbo tail looks very subtle and I have the chance to get one.   4. :rolleyes: Try Ebay or other alloy people like wheelenhancement, ernies alloys, I just got a screamin deal on sport technos from suncoast Porsche's parts department ( www.e-partssales.com I believe this is address or something close)
  5. :clapping: Just got John Flagg's custom made thumb screw kit for trunk (you can find them in the for sale threads here)..Man these are slick! Look great too! HIGHLY recommend converting to these, especially if you need to get under those plastic covers very often. Jim :cheers:

  7. :unsure: Hi I know this subject has been brought up before form past thread by v8huntr and I got Loren's specs on internals. Thread seemed to stop. Would a normally aspirated engine, specifically 2001 3.4L, withstand the increased power and temperature from a SC kit. In other words would the motor eventually break somewhere or cooling system in stock 3.4L be inadequate? Evo motorsports (www.evoms.com) has a nice looking unit (much nicer than TPC) . I know Loren mentioned a X51 upgrade kit what is involved with that? Would that kit address these concerns? Thanks alot. Jim :cheers:

  10. :clapping: Well I got the :cursing: out of there. Had to remove the cat pipe and heat area with torch then one whack from the BFH and it went flying.. I think I will do all of them while it is out and replace with regular old bolts and anti-seize compound. Thanks so much for your advice :cheers: Jim
  11. Well I tried the C clamp/socket idea with cold bolt and it does not budge... I left the C Clamp on there and am going to heat area and try cranking. If that does not work I am taking out both cats (As this one is the one that goes over and you apparently have to) and then going to vise whole pipe down and beat the :censored: out of it with the BFH! If it breaks I guess I will have to replace them. Any body have any ideas for aftermarket cats that give better flow that also actually pass emission tests?
  12. :lol: Okay! I'll try it. But Should I take the whole cat pipe outfirst andfix it in a bench clamp? It wiggles pretty good not being hooked either to muffler or manifold.
  13. :unsure: So Loren will I have to take the cat pipe out to press out the bolt? I am guessing you use really big pliers to grab and push the threaded end? What would you do when the threads get to the flange face and other side is now sticking out...pull it? Since is is soft brass heating should expedite this correct? Sorry :cursing: just really mad it was so rusted it broke should have cut it off but who knew? All the ithers came off, albeit with difficulty, and did not break! Jim

  15. :cheers: Indeed it is very similar to that serrated part is longer though and it is 8mm dia. I do have a BFH and a punch but would it help to heat area first do you think? Also cat pipe is very squirrly not being hooked to the manifold (have mufflers off too.) I guess I will need to hold the pipe with something before giving it some love taps! Thanks agian for your help! Jim
  16. Yes it is similar but I cannot see the non threaded end on your pic. Mine is round and flat and looks like it was just pushed in there, ie threads start on back side if hole. When I get home I'll take a pic.. Sorry should have said..car is an 01 996 C4.
  17. :censored: Well I snapped off one of the three rivet bolts on the cat to manifold junction which had such a badly rusted nut it would not turn. Any quick way to get that out and replace it?
  18. :D Thanks Karl I am glad it did not adversely affect car below 5K. Anything gained is worth it though. My stock manifolds are pretty rusted up towards cylinder heads. Mufflers were pretty bad too.. Don't know what the guy who had it before me did to it!
  19. <_< Hi Karl, Great you got 18 hp above 5K but what about performance below that? HAs it changed, specifically had it worsened or stayed the same do you think? Thanks for your comments it is helping me decide to do this or not.
  20. :D Tony I just installed the kit on my car and it seems to idle fine, a little noisier when you gas it but I have not taken it out for spin yet until snow clears here. As for the grill, it is just that, a grill, it is before the actual sensor and I am not sure what it's function is. Other MAF on vehicles I have seen have no such grill. in fact they are open tubes with the sensor setting in the center. (Granatelli etc.) Ask Loren, he seems to have experience with this modification also. (See post about "What air mod is this?") Jim
  21. <_< Don since you know Joe Fabiani, he is touting his headers as better than stock manifolds especially in conjunction with his ecu reprogram and mufflers? That true? I already have ordered the mufflers as my stock were pretty bad shape but I am hesitant on headers and ecu reprogram Jim
  22. B) Did you have to upgrade your ecu to take advantage of the freer flow muffler?
