It is light brown ,in fact a shade or two under golden . Should I re check the level it when its warm loren ? -

Hello Loren ,thanks for responding, it was cold when I finally managed to get the filler bolt out. I had a pull on the drain plug & that seems as though "Arnie" must have tightened it up as well,not sure if its ever been changed . I left the under tray off thinking it may have been the cause of the noise but no, its worse when cold . It can be induced easily if you turn into a corner & boot it suddenly ? -

Just to add, I managed to get the filler nut out! Is the oil meant to dribble out when you take this out ? On mine it did not so I made a dipstick & it worked out that its about 3/4 full... anyone ?? -
I get a "rattling" noise, sounds kinda like a rattling heat shield on a cat, from the front when I put the power on . Goes away when I let off the power. It is definitely coming from the front of the car in the front diff area. I have taken the plastic under tray off & it is relatively dry apart from a very small grease spot about 3/4" , also checked the rubber gaiters & they are all fine ? I am suspecting low front diff fluid but have managed to round filler nut so will check later. Anyone else ever had this ,its a C4 2001.
