  1. All I have been on the phone with Porsche North America for the last three days. The company that makes this part is no long under contract with Porsche to make this part. Porsche is looking for a new manufacture to build this part, untill them we are stuck. Does anyone have a work around for filling the gas tank (about every 1/4 of a gallon the gas pump shuts down and gas get sprayed back at you and all over the fender) Thank You John
  2. I have a 2003 996 with a bad Fuel Vent Valve, I have called dealers all over North America, nobody has this unit. Part Number 996-201-143-01 Any body know where to get this unit? Is porsche have a recall on this issue?
  3. Still need help, do I have to cut sheet metal to get in,if so where.?
  4. Loren Yes I tried that, stll not able to open. I tryed a little pressure and then I tried more pressure. Thank You John
  5. 2008 911 TT bonett will not open with Key,Latch Swich and with Emergency Cable I can here the selnoid on the front drivers side move when operated but hood will not pop up The steel cable will not do anything as well.
  6. HI Lost a exhaust valve and it went into the piston and destroyed the cylinder wall and piston. Looking for a low miles 3.6 Thank You
  7. We pulled out the sensor,no damage. We spun the engine with the sensor out and stll had the same noise.
  8. We just completely rebuilt a 996 engine that had a bent con rod. We have a loud ticking noise from the starter location. We switched starters but no noise difference. We inspected the six bolts that attach the flywheel to the torque converter, all six screws are tight. We see no scars on the bolt heads from hitting anything. The noise seems to happen each time the flywheel rotates completely. When we turn the crank shaft be hand we hear no noise. Help
  9. We just discovered that one of the mufflers has oil in it from the engine. I kind of remember that when we pulled the head off that the bad cylinder had a light coating of oil inside. Now the question is, where did the oil coming from.
  10. We split the case last night, found the #6 connection rod looking like a S, but not broken. Still need to check further as to what could of caused this failure.
  11. I bought a 2003 996 911 Carrera with 27,000 miles The doctor who owned it only drove the car about 2 miles each day. On her way to work one morning the engine started to make a metallic noise, lost power and died. The failure was blamed on the IMS bearing but no metal was found is the sump and when we pulled the heads off we had found a lifter had failed and the IMS bearing looked fine. We had the heads redone and put in a LN IMS bearing and assembled the engine. We started to crank the engine and heard a internal noise and then the engine locked up again, except this time it was tighter then it was before. We verified the cams timing was correct, which it was, so we decided to pull the heads back off and go through the top end again, yet found nothing wrong.. Tonight we plan to split the case and see what has failed. I might want to send the short block to California depending on what we find.Does anyone know of a rebuild shop beside MM that would do short block rebuild if needed.
  12. I need find a shop that rebuilds a 3.6 after a IMS failure and is MM that bad.
  13. When closing the top, the canvas is getting cought in rear cover latch and is tearing the top
  14. Top when closing gets stuck on deck latch, something is not causing the conv. top to pull out of the way of the latch
  15.
